O.k. So my Grandmother hates that everyone is calling her new cat Tripod. She says she need a new "nice" name. She told me to choose it, :o .

O.k...... But I'm out of ideas. So I need your help ! A new name for Tripod, ( who is a boy )

Grama says it can't have anything to do with having 3 legs. ( She thinks it might offend him  )

I'm going to her house tommaro ( it's 3 1/2 hours away ) She doesn't have internet, and I won't have time to go on in the morning. So I need them before the end of the night !

Please post, everything and anything.....

Help !

P.S. I'll take lots of pics for you guys tommaro ! ;)

Yes, a picture would help me a lot! Bless your grandma for adopting this guy; I'm sure he will give back loads of love.

How about Gem
Or Lester, Sinbad or George?
Or Michael, or Samson?
Or Moose, as Moose would love a wonderful Kitty named after him.

O.K.- I got an idea. Anyone with a siggy with cats and their names on it, please post,

I can look at the siggy and get many names at a time. ( I'm writing 'em all down so I can give her the ones that seem fitting ) ;)

The cat in my siggy is called Chaz which really suits him because hes a right jack the lad cat :D

Ive always loved the names Bailey and Brady and I always wanted a cat called Mouse :p

You can look through the A-Z threads at the top of the "Cat General" page--plenty of cat names there. :D

I have a three-legger and my hubby insisted her name should have been tripod  but her name is Flutter, because her missing leg would flutter outwards when she walked... I hated the name but got used to it. I still don't like it because it reminds me of her missing leg, but what can I do? She's my Flutter Butter

Hmmm.... males names:
I have Allen, Pouncer, and Harry. I like Jen's new kitty's name, Hamlet. I am also awful at naming things. First you need to decide if he should have a human name or a non-human name (like Pouncer)

Good luck, and happy naming - you only have a few hours before its tomorrow! :p

I went to see Tripod yesterday, he's gray and black. He is SOOOOOOOO sad.

He tries to srcatch himself with his stump. ( he has a hip, but no leg ) All you see is the stump moving and the ear waiting to be scratched, but the foot not being there to scratch.... It was the saddest thing I have ever seen a cat do. :(

People are now calling him Stumpy. ( my grama REALLY likes that... ) Now she is trying to insist people call him Puss.

Smokey the Elder would do the same thing, try to scratch with her stump. That was my cue to give her ear a good scritch!

Flutter also scratches herself with ehr little leg. It just flutters in the air. I personally love that little look and I walk over and scratch the itch for her

Yea, I had to scratch him, too. I couldn't resist ! It was just sooooo sad, the stump is about a inch and a half long, so it didn't even come close to reaching.

Some things about Stumpy:

Stumpy runs quite fast. Tends to lean on things, though. Doesn't like Cat Grass. Loves string, hair, ( especially mine  ) Camera wrist-straps and anything that moves.

AND... ( most disgustingly ) Enjoys CHEWING on his stump !!! That is just disgusting, how can you stop this behavior?

Doesn't like Jenny ( He gave her a look of immence dislike, which she DIDN'T return ) ( surprisingly :p )

LOL. Tripod and Lefty say there's nothing wrong with a name like that!

SKIPPY! :) Of course my sweet 3 legged (one eyed) boy would agree it's a great name! ;)

I like Skippy. it has a cheerful ring to it.

Nah, she's calling him Puss. (Although I prefer the name skippy, too ) (But he's not much of a PB fan :p )

I don't know weather I shared pics of him, but here he is in case I didn't.

Oh, finally a picture!

Puss is okay for a nickname, but he needs a more masculine name, says I.

How about Gus - short for Augustus?

Frank ... he just looks like a Frank to me, don't know why ...

(Pssst - and it's spelled 'tomorrow')

Cutie! My Skippy is not named after peanut butter, but for the fact that he ~skips~ along everywhere I go! :D And many times I drop the first letter and call him "Kippy Doo". Or "Papa" as he loves to wash little rescued kittens once in a while. Hope that "Puss" is doing well. ;) I agree with Karen that the name doesn't suit him too much. Not too original...Gus is cute! :)

Puss is ok i guess. He doesn't really look like a Puss though. My cat is named Aza.

It could be Flutter's long lost brother :D

What about Seren. Seren is Welsh for star, one of my favourite in the Welsh language. Unfortunately I don't speak Welsh (which seems daft as I am welsh but in Cardiff there is a low welsh speaking population and it's spoken more fluently in mid and north Wales, goes back to history when the English tried to stop the welsh speaking the language and such, basically the same kind of things as Braveheart but in Wales)

This little guy is a star. Seren.
Just a suggestion :)

For some reason "Jasper" came to mind and I have NEVER thought of that name for a cat or a dog... But I like it...

GreyhoundGirl,

How about Nikon?? Believe it or not, animals don't realize they have "limitations". MooShoo who is blind in his right eye and has partial vision in his left has no clue he's not a normal seeing cat.

Bless your Grandma for taking in such a wonderful little boy. I hope they have many long years together.

He is a very handsome young man.

Puss as in "Snaggle Puss," from the cartoon? And could you change the title on this darn thread, I don't see a thing "sad" about it!! Humorous and funny that Grandma is worried about offending kitty, sure. But sad? No way.

I named mine Samson (and call him Sammy) because he is so strong to have gone through the trauma as well as he did.

When he first crawled and staggered to my door, on only two legs, I had to quickly name him when I got him to the vet's office. I called him Festus, but I soon changed that!

He loves the name Sammy.

Who knows? Puss just might love the name Puss, so....

LOL--My tripods are Tripod and Lefty, but I always swore my next tripod would be named Thumper. (After you meet this boy, you'll understand why!!) :D

GreyhoundGirl
11-03-2006, 02:27 PM
For some reason every cat she's had has been named Puss. I'll have to forward some of those names, though. :)

EDIT: P.S. I thought it was sad, seeing his try to scratch himself with his stump. For some reason, he cannot scratch with the other leg. Are cats Mono-legged?

Tripods can cross the midline to a point, but perhaps the itch was too far to reach with the other leg?
