My Peanuts

Syl was lonely and needed a buddy. My brother and I went to the Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge Illinois on 7/31/2003 and saw Harley. We picked him up on 8/1/2003. My first impression was that he was too big to pal around with Sylvia. Sylvia was still a puppy and she was only 6-8lbs so every dog looked too big! Harley was only 20 lbs then, but after living with us he’s a steady 22-23 lbs. At first I couldn’t picture him as a family member and now I can’t picture my family without him.
Harley has come a long way in the past 3 years. He’s my shaky butt, Harley boy and Har-dog (a few of his many nicknames)
Harley is the leader of the pack and even my neighbors have noticed that he is. When he barks they all come running to check it out. Jimmy looks up to him a lot. Morty challenges Harley as the leader, but Harley doesn’t let him get too far. Sylvia is the figure head leader, but she’s Harl’s little side kick. All the dogs and all the people that meet Harley love him instantly. He’s my little guy and I love him dearly.
For his birthday, this morning they had scrambled eggs in their kibble, tonight they are having hotdogs on the grill, Frosty Paws, and Harley has some presents to open. No party guests like Morty had. It’s literally 100 degrees here and even though we have the A/C on more dogs in the house isn’t a good idea.
Look for pictures tomorrow after Harley’s Birthday party.
