Any takers??
PERMISSION GIVEN TO CROSSPOST. CONTACT: Bloomington Animal Care & Control

The lovely young male GSD that I thought had been sucessfully adopted from
the Bloomington, Indiana Animal Care & Control is back. The people who were
to adopt him never picked him up from the vet after he was neutered...
He is NOT doing well in the shelter situation and is losing weight and
breaking out of all the kennels to try to get to people. This dog is
georgeous and an absolute love, but he won't last long at the shelter. He
has proabably lost 5-6# already and needs to be with people. He is neutered,
HW neg and has all of his shots.
I think he would make a wonderful therapy dog.
You can see him @:

The kindest thing I can say is that I hope this people will never be allowed near a pet EVER again.
I wish I could help. I hope he will find someone soon as he deserves it after being abandoned twice :(

So sorry about the confusion. You'd think that by now I'd learn to include an explanation!! The D at the end of GSD throws everyone off. However, it is included in it's official name. Sorry, again!

Sue,
This GSD is Gorgeous !!! I might be able to work in a female
with Buddy, but for sure, not a male. This young age is such
a critical stage for growth, training & bonding with people
and other dogs, Dang, I feel he might develope some
behavior problems if he's not "sprung" pretty soon. I
remember Bud at about that age, and he HATED to be
confined. I'll say some prayers for that Beautiful boy !!!

Oh, it breaks my heart to hear such a gorgeous animal isn't doing well back in the shelter. He's a beauty for sure and would no doubt make a wonderful dog for someone! Intelligence just sparkles in his eyes...
I will be sending good vibes his way. He deserves a forever home in a hurry. :)

Oh my! What a handsome fellow!!! I would have been there in an instant if I had still lived in Columbus, IN. Bloomington is only a short 30 minute drive from my Columbus home!!!
I sure hope he finds a responsible and caring family soon!! How could anyone pass this gorgeous GSD up??!!

Mike has looked at the pictures and called the shelter this morning (He could not resist that pretty boy:D ). He talked with the adoption people and they said that he was up for adoption. But that he could call tomorrow and find out if he leaves. Mike was happy to hear that, but a little disappointed as well.
He also talked with the adoption officer and they would only talk to our vet and local animal care and control see if we could adopt him. they also said that the amount of dogs that we had did not diswade them from letting us have him.
Well, with any luck he has a forever home tonight. If not maybe this weekend.;)

You know, it's funny...Mike keeps telling me to stop looking at dogs to adopt, but yet he calls on this one! lol. He's the one that talked to the shelter, so I can't give you details, but we'll keep you posted. I need to stop coming on here...it keeps costing me money getting other dogs!! lol j/k

Oh my, that is so sad. What kind of person would leave an animal at a vet's office after a surgery like that. If I lived in Indiana I would come and pick him up. I wish that dog the best.

We just got off the phone with the shelter and I'm supposed to go down on Saturday and fill out paperwork and take Sox and Tigger with me to meet with him. Sadly, he doesn't even have a name yet. If all goes well then Chris (the girl at the shelter) will call our Animal Care and Control and check up on us and then possibly call the vet. We'll keep you posted. Sue...quit posting pictures!! lol:D :D

Ok, Sue, you owe me!!! lol I guess I'm driving to Bloomington tomorrow to fill out paper work and let Sox and Tigger meet him and if everything goes well with them, they will make the necessary calls and we'll go BACK down next week and pick him up. We talked to Chris at the shelter last night quite extensively and she seemed pretty excited about me coming down because she really likes this guy. We asked her if he got along with other dogs and she said that the other day he CLIMBED THE KENNEL WALL TO GET TO ANOTHER DOG!!! She said he has separation anxiety pretty bad. SHEESH!!! Get this...the adoption fee is a whopping $20!! He is current on all shots and obviously has been neutered.

Our Animal Care and Control is $85 with a $45 spay/neuter certificate, first vet visit free, microchipped, and a $5 gift certicate to Petsmart. Our SPCA is $65 with the dog spayed or neutered already, microchipped, and a pet pack.
Ok, GSD update, Mike called Bloomington today and talked to Chris again and NO he is NOT going to a rescue because there are so many people interested in him already. I'm going to go visit Daisy tomorrow morning at 8 and then go pick up one of my students and she's going to ride with me (if her dad OK's it) so I have company, and we're going to Indy to pick up Liz and she's going to ride with us to meet him and then probably get to Bloomington around 1:30 or 2 and do what we gotta do!! lol Chris also said that she didn't think that he had lost any weight, but he really isn't doing well in the shelter environment.
We'll keep you updated!! Sure you don't want to come down to Fort Wayne and go with me tomorrow Sue?? lol

OOPs mugsy spoke too soon...Liz has to work, so she can't go with me this weekend, but if we get him she'll probably go next weekend to pick him up.

I am soooooo happy!! I will have to update Laureen, the crossposter (she wants to know what's going on, too!) I guess Melody was going to take him into rescue, but now that is certainly unnecessary!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!
Next week we have a TLC shelter walk-a-thon and a university graduation to attend. It would have been great fun to go pick up "the dog" (he needs a name)! Good luck and please keep me posted so I can let Laureen and the other BB know. BTW, they are also very happy for you.

Molly,
I'm so sorry that I can't go with tomorrow. I'd be in big
trouble if I did not do my 'on call' duty this weekend. I
want to see this GSD for myself. He looks & sounds so
good. Hope Tigger & Sox like him !!!:) I'm free anytime
after next Monday (5/27). Drive carefully & let us know
your impressions after you've had a chance to meet &
intro Tigger and Sox. O.K.? Talk to you later. Liz.

I guess that Chris wanted me down there at 10:30am, that would have meant that I left at no later than 6:30 and I need to see Daisy, so it will have to be later. There is already one app on him that doesn't look good and about 5 other people supposed to come in and fill out apps today, so there wouldn't have been a reason for Melody to have to take him...he's a popular guy!!! I probably won't get there until around 1pm and I'll have to hope someone doesn't snatch him up first.
You're right Sue, he needs a name. Any suggestions?? I like Shiloh or Stonewall (can you tell I'm a Civil War buff? lol) and I like Mike's suggestion of Gus and Brett (he likes Farve of the Packers) I also like Sawyer (the radio was on and said that Sawyer Brown was going to be somewhere around here).
I'll let you know as soon as I get back!!
Sudilar

I do love the name SHILOH!! (OK, so I'm a little prejudiced in favor of that name!)
I hope Daisy is recovering quickly. Good luck today, I'll be thinking about you with all fingers and paws crossed. Let us know as soon as possible!

God I hate doing this, but, I wasn't able to go to Bloomington today. I'm going to call on Tuesday and see what happened and if no one showed up to put an app in, I'll make arrangements to go down next weekend...I was SOOOO disappointed.
I did get to see Daisy today though.
I'm sorry I'm such a disappointment.:(

Glad to hear that Daisy is getting a little better. Wish she could be going home soon.
Molly, you just can't be everywhere at once!! If you are meant to adopt the dog, you will. Good luck Tuesday.

Molly,
You have a heart as BIG as Texas !!! I know if it were
humanly possible, you would move heaven & earth to
rescue every homeless pooch out there.:D I agree with
Sue, if this is meant to be....it will be. You are NOT a
disappointment , but I'm sure you probably feel bad
that you couldn't get everything done today that you
wanted to. Hang in there Molly !!! Give your furkids a
big ole hug & kiss from me.:) :) :) Liz & Buddy.

How can anyone who opens her heart to every dog she possibly can be a disappointment?
I am sure it was very hard for you to not go see the GSD today, but your first priority has to be your current kids. My mom has a friend who won't get something when he first time sees it. If he goes back and it is still there, he was meant to have it...if not, he never was. There were a lot of people interested in this dog and maybe he was meant for one of those families...or maybe there is another dog out there, you'll discover soon who needs you more then the GSD did..or maybe the GSD will be there Tuesday. Whatever happens I am sure it was meant to be.
In the meantime, focus on Daisy May and gettin her to poop!!! So she can come home where she belongs :)

Cincy's Mom is sooo right! We almost didn't get Killian!! At first, there was Rocky, a GSD. We missed him by 10 minutes and an error on the shelter workers part! Next, there was the Great Pyr that I was called in to check out. In fact, I was going to adopt her because not too many knew of her breed. However, as I went to tell Killian (on the "last chance" side of the shelter) that I would be saving the Great Pyr and not him because he was a GSD and "someone" would probably adopt him, I saw that he was a 69lb (should have been 110+) bag of bones with bare spots and open sores on his body. SUE was written all over this guy! He was on death row, he didn't have a prayer! OK, so he was MEANT for ME!
About the Great Pyr... I gave the shelter all kinds of info on the breed and told them that if no one adopted her in 2 weeks, to give me a call and I will.... She was adopted out to a family with kids! WOOHOO!
So, dear mugsy, what's meant to be, will be!! You can never be a disappointment, ever!!! You (and Mike) are Angels! There's no denying that!!
Sue
