Just wondering what everyones thought is on the new profitable buisness of designer breeds. I have noticed here on the internet that they keep coming out with more and more. Its just shocking and appalling to me as I try and set the standard for Health and Temperment for my Collies and some joe Smoe is getting $1500 for his designer breeds. I do like the Finchador though. Wouldn't mine having one of those.

Yeah, it does seem like they're popping up all over the place. Recently I heard someone was trying for a Collie-doodle!! I don't know, to me they're no different than any mixed breed dogs. I've been a collie fan all of my life and would never change breeds. I don't think that the breeders of these mixed breeds should be getting high prices. Do they even have experience with and knowledge about breeding, genetics, and behavior? Interesting topic, Tim.

Let me be clear, my dogs are basically "mutts" and I love them all. My "odious" comment was about the so-called Designer Dogs I'm hearing about

You all should click on the pictures (not what you're thinking of ...)

I would not want that fourth one over to be my morning wake-up, but being a rooster-cross ....

I personally like the elephant trunk one.
Now THAT would definately wake somebody up in the morning,
being thumped on the head with that trunk....LOL

Gee, I missed those little pics, also. I think I'd like the first one, the finchador, as well. He's a little cutie. He might scare the other birds, though. Hi Jana!

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! It only stands to reason that Opportunists see this phenom and have jumped onto the bandwagon. It doesn't take a Genetic Genius to buy a Poodle and Lab and put them in a pen together for a week, The rest is easy... just have enough brains to feed them and care for them decently. Place your ad in a Newspaper and/or Pet forums and hey... you're a BREEDER!!!

Personally, I'd LOVE a golden wh ocould perch on my finger. Lady seems to think she can, she forgets she weighs 70 Lbs.

BOBS DAD I don't get it! I have put my neutered Dobie in the parakeet cage for weeks no eggs yet! I suck as a breeder! (j/k point well made in your thread reply) but the pics Tim posted are funny as he11!
