One of my friend's housemates said he no longer saw Garfield's pic on the SPCA website.

So my friend phone - Garfield had been put to sleep. Even though they had both our phone numbers, they said he was too sick and it would have been too expensive to treat him. With the blood in his pee, I wonder if his kidneys were affected. I mean, he was there a few days, so they worked on him...

Rest in peace, little Garfield. You did have people who loved you...and also the one person who could afford to pay for your care didn't spend the money, even though someone else would have taken you to the whitecoats.

I am glad I met you beautiful kitty...and patted you and saw your lovely kitty smile.

Play hard and make new friends at the Bridge.

Thats very sad that they never called you, and at least gave you the option of adopting Garfield.
Its too late now as Garfield is a Pet Angel now, and the Guest of Honor at the Pet Party at Glaciers.
Hes glad that someone wrote a notice about him, and he did not die as an unknown Cat.
And he will be Your Angel Catty 1, when you meet at last.

Thanks, Gary - since he was very sick when he went there, he must have gotten worse. The SPCA in Calgary works hard at healing and rehoming their cats.

If he had been the least bit adoptable...I am sure they would have called. Perhaps it was cancer and not a UTI? Who knows.

It will be nice to have my own Cat Angel. :) But he really is my friend's!

How distressing to read about Garfield!!! I am sure the people at the shelter did all they could to help him. But, perhaps it was not meant to be. Garfield is the newest member of the ORANGETEERS!! Sleep softly dear Garfield...

That's really sad, I hope garfield is happy at rainbow bridge with the other gingers (orange) who can play with him all day . RIP Garfield.

Garfield I read your story I almost in tears. Your in a better place with sister's cat Yuri who died of kidney failure. Ar least she tried everything but
I wished they tried harder to make you feel better. No more pain Garfield.

Sandy - thank you. If my friend wasn't on medical disability and barely able to feed herself and her cat - if she had money, there would be a lot of happy healthy kitties, and I believe Garfield would still be here!
