The vet told me to isolate the kitten for 3 weeks and to bathe her every 2 to 3 days.. Which is very sad, because I waited 2 months for this kitten and I bought her for my daughter.. She cant even touch her and the kitten is in dire need of socialization... I pet her every day but I do not pick her up untill she needs a bath. She was in terrible shape when i got her, but she is doing exptemely well now... I was hoping to find someone on this site that has or had any experience with this mite..
I wish certain people wouldn't breed cats..

I think it is horrible that you got this kitten from a breeder!!! Can the kitten be returned back to the breeder?? I bet that ALL the kittens have this mite and are suffering because of this breeder. Can the breeder be reported to Animal Welfare??? I sure as shootin' try to do something!!!! Talk to your vet, perhaps they can be of some help! THIS IS NOT RIGHT!!!!And you can be the one to remedy things!!!!!

This is the sad thing, I have known this lady for 10 years. I do know that the other 3 kittens have this mite because I started out with a male 1st. I took him back the next day because he was so lathargic...She said that i could take one of the other kittens , so I am thinking that I am not going to get my $150 bucks back so I took a little female and made an appointment with the vet the next day.. This one wasn't as bad as the other, and I didn't see the other two litter mates. Not only did this kitten have the chey.. mites, but she had severe earmites and worms.. So, $125 dollars later I was sooooo angry that i did call the lady and I told her about the situation, She did apologize and I told her that I wanted my money back or she pay the vet bill. She paid the vet bill. I didn't have the heart to return this kitten the the filth to which she came from...Which I am glad, the damage has already been done and she is very sweet and getting used to being touched. As for the mites, I have bathed her twice already and I don't see any "dandruff" and I spray the flea spray everywhere.. No signs of infestation..

I ws just devastated to read your post!! I am so glad that you contacted the woman. Perhaps it IS better that you keep the kitten than returning it to the deplorable conditions where it came from!! What is your little girl's name?? You must be a very special person to take care of this kitty!!!

The kittens name is "Babykiddy" but my daughter who is 2 calls her Bubba..
I deliver mail for a living and I see abused and neglected animals everyday...I try to interfere when I can, but sometimes it can be overwhelming and I am forced at times to turn the other cheeck.. The local animal control know me on a first name basis, but they have a real bad habit of turning both cheeks.. That is why it really wouldn't do any good to turn this lady in. She really isn't a bad person I just don't think she realizes how bad her situation has become..There are quite a few puppy mills around here that I have tried on countless occasions to shut down.. Nobody seems to care..What is a person to do???
