Betta owners..

Since a lot of us have caught the betta bug, I thought it'd be fun to find out when everyone got their first betta, and how many they're up to now. :)


I got my first betta on November 15th, 2004. I recently sold some stock so now I'm down from 40 to 25 or so. I also have two planned spawns coming up.

Oh I had a betta a long time ago, but the recent betta bug started in 2004 also. Since I was in my second year of college and I missed having a pet I got into fish again. I currently have 5 bettas, 1 male and 4 females. Since 2004 I had 3 males and 7 females. 1 male died of old age, another I gave away, 1 female of old age, 1 of aggression, and 1 I gave back to the store because of aggression. The rest I still have.
PS: there is a gorgeous white double tail female at the local store and just maybe I can scrape together enough money for her. Maybe I'll have ten bucks after gassing up my hungry car.

I got my first betta when i first moved out..He was a beautiful bright red male, cleverly named Red :rolleyes:..ive only had 3 more i since then Jafar (blue and red), Finn (greenish blue) and my most recent Mr. Bubbles (dark blue almost purple)..i'll probably get another soon :)

Great thread Ashley! I got my first betta in Walmart on my sisters 40th birthday, that would have been 1999! ;) We went out to eat for her birthday and ate at a place called Lone Star Saloon, so I named him Star. He was a mostly a royal blue. If I thought real hard I could figure how many I've had in 7 years. I have 14 now. :rolleyes:

I got my first betta in March of this year. Sebastian was the starter of it all.. A few weeks later I was allowed to have number 2, Neptune. Then... saw the females, fell in love with them, went back to get #3, Ariel. Then, a few weeks ago, rescued Cabaret, and wanted another girl, got Melody. Then, went back to get the CT I had seen the previous day, Mufasa. Sadly, Cabaret died, and now we're getting technically #7, Aiden, from NY! :D

I got my first betta in December of 2003, and now I only have two, so I love betta's but I havn't gotten the flu!!

My first betta was Redriver he was by far the BEST betta I have ever had in my life so far.

The first day I got him like when I was 13 I treated him like a king he was bright red and at night I even raped a blanket around his tank because I thought he would get cold at night.

This better loved me so much he would flare at me let me pet him and loved to follow me on the side of his tank and I gave him his fav mirror every day so he could play with it I just loved him Redriver was probably my first best pet I have ever had in my hole life of fish.

He lived till about 3 and a half years old and when he died I was so sad.

But I shall never forget this betta and the day I got him.

Im still looking for a betta like him but no luck Im still searching shur I buy them but then I end up giving them away to my friends who also love betta's.

I would just like one as friendly as my first and when I find him Ill post about it.

I also have 2 females In my only large tank I plan on adding some more but I only want one good male.

Not for certain when I got my first betta.... sometime last year. I got him from a small local petstore after my snails died. He stole my heart the moment I saw him. Hinge is his name and he's still with me. :D
At the moment, I have 11 bettas. 9 males, 2 females. I don't plan on getting anymore males soon unless I just have a feeling about them.

My first betta was Shipwreak but he died after 2 weeks then i got Sam who died to after three days.
I found out why it was because I didn't use a tap water cleaner.That was the last time i listened to a petstore person.

A month ago I got Nemo.Then Daisy Jo but she passed away she was swimming werid i think that had something to do with her death.
I got Ruby and have had him for 6 or 7 days.Then Tugboat she has been with me for 3 or so days.

I had bettas many years ago but I really don't know an exact date.

Since being on PT my first betta, Atticus, was in January of this year and I still have him. He's the only betta I have, I've considered another but I have no place to put another tank.

I have gotten my four in the last month or so. :) Two from stinky Walmart, one from Petsmart, and, the last one from a Pet Supplies store. They're pretty and cool!

I have 2 bought them both at the same time from"The Pet Store" what an original name lol,I would go to walmart in the future here in Canada the betta's look so pitiful in Walmart they don't take well care of them there in a little plastic cup with maybe 3 inches of this blue water stuff it is sad..

My first Betta was Bo Jangles. =D My Grandma's friend was a hairdresser and had him at her work languishing in a Betta vase, and she wanted to give him away so I got him! He was a beautiful purpley marble SD, I got him when I was 12 and I had him for 3 years, so he lived happily for almost 4 years. He lived like a little king, in a 10 gallon with a crab named Sebs.

The one and only betta I've owned was Troy, and it was many years ago. He was gorgeous blue guy that I got from Meijer. When I go to college (in a month!) the only pet I can have is a fish, so I'm planning on getting one then.

I got Xambi March 19! Then I got Lomasi, but she past away suddenly, without warning, and I rescued Sapphire, who looks almost exactly like her! So I have 2 betta's!
I never really had thought about them because, well, they were aggressive, and I wasn't really into fish. Then I started to look at everyone else, and see their fish. I did a little research, got a fish tank for my birthday, and now I have Xambi in one, and Sapphire in another tank!!

At one point, however, I owned over 100 adult Bettas - all in my room! Thankfully my room is huge, and I have a massive walk-in closet that is never used.

Hmm. I had a lovely blue male veiltale about fourteen years ago, then a red male veiltale when I was about twelve, and now I've got one that alternates between red and blue. His name is Feesh. We've had him for several months now! :)

I had my first betta long time ago when I was a kid.

the first betta I have as an adult is Max, a red veiltail.
I am thinking of adding a second betta which will probably be a yellow one.

My first i got a few years ago, he was only with me for about 2 months when he got sick and died :( RIP Daffyd.

My little dude i have at the moment i have had about 5 months, he is doing great. He has a baby snail as a friend and is quite happy.

I have 8 bettas right now...but have owned 10 of them. I swear I do not have the betta bug. :D

*Zack-he was a lavender copper marble halfmoon plakat. Sadly he found a small hole in the top of his tank and jumped out. Thankfully I have 3 healthy 5 week old fry from him.

*Aiden-he is a lighter steel blue than steel and has a turquoise head I got him from a mall pet shop about 2 weeks ago he has ripped fins. He is a combtail veiltail.

*My newest I have had for 3 days is Jackson he has an orange body with purple and orange fins. He is gorgeous and I found him at petsmart and just had to have him. Pictures aren't realy true to his real life color.

Well I haven't got a Betta yet but I have been looking really hard and have been thinking about getting a gold fish starter tank with ari filter and water filter. It will be about 2 gallons or bigger. I talked to a guy at this exotic fish and pet shop and he said they can put a order for a crowntail for me. I looked a Petsmart but all of the crowntail bettas are red and blue colors not I kinda like the green mixes. I work as a Server so I have to wait after Sunday to purchase the tank I want and then have the guy put in my order for a crowntail. I think their bettas are cheaper than petsmart but if they aren't I still know I'm probably getting a better fish since they seem to keep them in large tanks with more othe co-existing fishes and look much happier.

I can't remember when I got my first betta, funny enough. Fish were the ONLY pets we were allowed to have when I was a kid, so probably around age seven or so!

I had gotten Risteek (my first betta) Febuary 2006. But the betta that got me into bettas (my sisters fish) was Snowflake and she got him Christmas 2004 or 2005. (can't remember which year)

Now I have 3. I had been up to about 16 for awhile but I haven't gotten any lately. =(
