Does anyone's dog scratch so hard that they hurt themselves with their own claws????? I have tried everything even cutting her nails less sharper. The first few weeks we brought her home and took her to the vet she said it was nervousness, but the dog is not nervous with anyone and loves everything. It has also been almost a year...When will it stop?????

You'll need to seek another opinion . Your dog might well be nervous, what with all the itching that seems to be going on.
So many factors can cause skin irritation, from diet to dander!!! Too wide a spectrum to contemplate!!!
I'd take this dog to another Vet for sure.
I'm sorry your dog is feeling such discomfort and I hope he/she receives proper treatment for whatever is causing it. :(

You need to find the source of the itchiness. It could be anything - allergies are always my first suspect, what kind of food does she eat? You might try switching her to a lamb-and-rice formula, which tends to be good for dogs with allergies, see if that makes a difference.

 I never thought of food allergies. I feed her eukanuba baby bites becuase she is only a puppy and weighs 5.8 lb ( as big as she will get) Thank you much Dorothy39 and Karen I just made an appointment for a different vet at 2:00. I will see how it goes from there  Thank you guys sooo much!!!! :D

=( Poor pup. Eukanuba has tons of common allergens in it - corn, grain, chicken by-products, etc. I definitely recommend a vet visit to rule out a skin disorder (taking a skin sample is a good idea), and switching her promptly to an allergy-friendly kibble. Natural Balance (avail at Petco) has lots of low-allergy, high quality formulas - sweet potato & fish, venison & brown rice, would be good choices.

It turns out that my poor little Minnie is allergic to corn in her eukanuba food. :( I switched vets because this could have gotten a lot worse and she didn't even notice... thank you, Dorothy39, Karen and bckracy for all your help and support!!!! :D

Oh, I am so glad you found out what it was. I have food allergies myself, so you can tell her I completely sympathize. I'll eat her corn, she can have my fish!

What I do when my dog starts scratching is put som dog gloves on his feat. I treat him for fleas etc. but the gloves help everything. :) :) :) :) :)
