Greyhound Girl you have only touched the tip of the Iceberg. As part of my schooling and my PhD, my thesis was on serial killers, what makes them tick what switch gets turned off? or for that matter what switch get turned on? what allows them to follow through with macabre fantasies? I can cite hundreds of studies that give this same info on animal abuse and some of the serial killers profiled i.e. the Green River killer began with animal abuse at 4 yrs old. Most parents try to gloss over kids being "rough" or "loving" it to death but hundreds of other studies have been since the the early 60s proving that this behavior seen in kids clearly points to an abusive situation it may be at home, school, at the hands of a sibling or sitter or uncle/aunt.
Believe me when I tell you my own step son is being monitored for any abnormal behavior with our own animals as we know he was abused in his mothers care. He is recieving counseling and appropiate mental and medical care, but if he shows the early signs then we know that we need to probe further to help him he is 6. It is a very very real phenomenon and one that if seen shlould raise flags in any concerned adult.

It is so sick to think about it but we can all probably think of a situation from our childhood or now that relates to this article. I just found out today that the breeder of my Kandie and beloved Zoe who passed in April, Left her husband and he refused to give her the Collies. So in an act of violence to spite her he took them out behind the barn and shot them. I was sooooo pissed. I guess the Breeder lady has been telling people they were hit on the road 6 months ago. I can't believe she didn't bother to call the authorities on him. What losers. I just want to hunt this guy down!!!!  Can you believe she saw my last puppy for sale and actually inquired about it. It was the first time in a long time I was rude to someone on the phone. I don't think I'll lose any sleep over my rudeness tonight though.
i can't read it all. that is sick. i hate the human race. :(
That article, as well as others on that site made me .
One of my neighbors kids, (a little girl about 4 yrs. of age), is very rough with animals i've noticed. She put a metal leash buckle clip on Daisy's tendon and i had to take her into e.r. to have it cut off. So I told my other neighbor who has dogs to watch out for this kid, and she said once when the girl was playing with her dog, the dog let out an unnatural scream.
I keep this child away from my dog now and will tell anyone whose animals go near this kid to watch out for her.
I don't know what goes through her mind, or what abuse she has suffered.

My stepdad uses my animals as "hostage" saying he'll take care of them if they don't stop shedding or barking or whatever they do that's annoying him. I wish my mom would realize that this is something serious. He's the reason I want to get the hell out of this house asap. I'm not keeping any contact with my mother or any of my family once I'm gone.
