Bringing Dogs To Work

Good morning everyone.

Does anyone work somewhere that they allow you to bring your dog to work with you? I know some places are cool like that and I wanted to know about. Like, what kind of liabilities and does your dog have to have like an obedience certificate or something?
Do they let you actually have your pup with you or is there like a doggie daycare on site?

My work has child day care but there's lots of us who choose to have dogs as our kids instead. And I want to bring him to work with me!! :(

Every year there's Bring Your Kid To Work Day... What about Bring Your Dog To Work Day, at least?!?

So, if anyone is so fortunate to have this set up, please respond.

I certainly WISH I had this option at work, because like you I don't have kids but I'd love to use my "childcare" benefit on bringing my dogs to the office. Still, look what I found--a site that lists dog-friendly companies throughout the US! (California has lots of them, lucky us!)

Maybe a change of job is what we need, huh? :D

I am lucky........and I really, really appreciate that fact!!! My office is in my home, so I get mine with me all day, everyday, unless I am traveling on business. I enjoy the cats, birds and dogs every single day!

Unless you find a private company that encourages this sort of thing (and I don't know of any), I'm not sure of what other options there are. But maybe you'll get some good ideas here from others.

I can understand perfectly why you wish what you do! My kids are so spoiled because I am home with them every single day!! :D

Funny that you say that... For a long time I've thought if I ever leave this company I really will try to get a job in a dogfriendly workplace.

Unfortunately, San Diego only has a few.
Guess I'll just have to start up my own company. :p

It would be nice to bring a pet to work, my alpha dog, Eli, or my "rescue" (its a long story) Sassee, would be good at work. :D
I think one of my cats would be good too, except some of them want to get into everything. :(

At a former job, I mentioned to the big boss that offering pet insurance would be a great alternative for those who don't need insurance for children... He looked at me like I'd grown three heads. He never ever did take my idea seriously. So many people just don't get it. :mad: :mad: :mad:

But then he got fired! :p :p :p

We are always joking, asking to bring our dogs to work...in fact we have informed our bosses that June 21st is National Take Your Dog To Work Day and they have no choice but to let us bring them in. In honesty though, I work in a chemical lab and I don't want my dogs there for their health and safety. Occasionally we do have visitors that we take to the back door and go out in the parking lot and visit for a few minutes. In fact, Max, the 1 yr black lab mix of a friend at work stoped in to see us Thursday. It is always a pick me up to see a dog in the middle of the day, even if only for a few minutes :)

My boss brought his new Jack Russell puppy to work for almost a year. He managed to annoint the new carpets every time he came! The boss was on the road a lot so we put up with the potty training.

When Jack grew up, the boss got an adult female Jack Russell. It got to be too much hassle for him to bring both dogs, so we rarely see them any more.

When I have to take my dogs to the vet, I can bring them to work for a short time before or after their appointment. Only one person gets upset. And he thinks all dogs should live outside on someone else's property.

I'd like to bring a dog to work regularly, but our offices are pretty small. The dog is in the way no matter where they are. And it's pretty boring for a dog.

I wish we could opt for pet insurance instead of dependent insurance. With 4 dogs and one a diabetic, I could use it.
