female dog humping (update with picture)

My new female dog, chihuahua, was trying couple times to hump over kiKi. :0 I read other posts that this is because she tries to show dominance? Should I stop her if she does that again?

Also, I was told that she had been spayed? Does a spayed female dog hump?

I had a female rotty that use to try to do that to me. She was also spayed. I stopped her because I was the leader of our pack. My suggestion is if she isnt going to be the leader , than yes stop her. It should be a little easier to do considering her size, BJ(my rotty) RIP, was 130lbs before she past , so you can imagine how hard it was to get her to stop but she realized who was the leder after awhile. Patience is all I can say.

I recommend to stop it.. I've only exp. 1 female dog do that & it was a horrible beast of a dog! OMG I honestly dissliked that dog.. She would hump the older dog & then attack her out of the blue!! She ate all the food & drank all the water! She would snap, bite & attack the other dog if she tried to eat her own food.. was not a pretty sight..

Nicki's been spayed for 11 years and still humps. She does it when she gets overstimulated. Its not a sign of dominance with her, merely that she's on sensory overload.

Puppies and dogs do this in play too. My two sometimes "take turns" doing this when they are playing and really wound up. I don't interfere as it doesn't cause any squabbles or problems. I guess it would depend on when she was doing this and how the other dog was reacting whether I'd be concerned or not. Both my dogs have been spayed/neutered since they were 6 months old.

Well, I've never had, or known of a dog who does this. Maybe they've
all been the exceptions.I believe it could be a dominance thing from what
I've read about it, but I don't have a clue as to what it means.

Tobey used to do it to Archie when he first joined us - it was a dominance thing to show him who was boss......they have settled down together nicely and have found their own level

thank you all for you replies. My other dog does not mind at all when she is trying to do that on him. It happens when I am playing with both of them. They both are getting along so far.
