Last night the big dog bit the little dog an the face and head hard enough to draw blood (lots of it) and wouldn't let go until we made him. We took her to the vet and, while she'll be fine, he said that it isn't a matter of if it would happen again, but when. I don't trust him around smaller dogs anymore, and I'm also worried about children. We're geting married Sept 1, and no telling how soon kids will come after that. We took the big one to my parents house, they said they'd keep him until we knew what to do. I also found out that he has been growling at my fiance in the new house, and my mom when we lived there.

Is it worth the risk to keep him? I don't want him to hurt anyone or any other dogs. I spent many tearful hours last night trying to figure out my options.

Help?

As "Bob's Dad" asked, the older dog is a border collie/cattle dog mix...male. The puppy is an australian shepherd/cattle dog mix...female. please, please help

Wow... things are obviously much worse than you thought. Mine went at it a couple of times pretty good, but never drew blood. Ironically, Ginger (Older Beagle) always whipped Bob (newer Terrier-like pup) but ultimately gave up and has assumed the submisssive role with Bob taking over as Alpha.

As far as I could see Bob never "won" a fight, but Ginger really grew tired of the constant challenges and pretty much now says (with her demeanor), "WHATEVER".

Don't know the answer to your dilemna. There have been lots of posts on similar situations in the past. Some try and slwly wean the dog of aggressive behavior towards others by having then constantly tethered to their person - trhat way they can control and alter their every move. Good luck.

P.S. A forget, maybe you can update your update... Older dog is what??? and newer smaller is also a what breed???
