 Please respond if anyone has experienced anything like this health problem that my 5-yr old Schipperke (male) is experiencing right now. 2 days ago his mouth started to hang open slightly, almost like his tongue is in the way. He also swallows frequently. He does not appear to be in any pain, moves normally, and is just a bit less energetic than usual. He is being treated right now by a very experienced vet, but so far nothing has been figured out. If you have heard of any symptom like this before, your response would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

may or may not point to some metabolic problem developing. If the dog starts to show progressive weakness, then it could be something less common like myasthenia gravis. Hopefully your Vet will get a good lab panel that points to the true cause. Kept plugging and you'll find the answer.

Hi 'Dragondawg',
I really appreciate your reply. My vet is awaiting the results right now to a full lab panel, so far nothing conclusive has been found. If panel all comes back negative, he feels our next trip should be to a neurology specialist for a cranial MRI. My dog is holding steady with no changes so far. Have my fingers crossed that we'll get to the bottom of everything very soon! Again, I really appreciate your response, which I will share with my vet - perhaps what you mentioned is something he didn't think of already.
Take care,
Pelicandream
