here are two questions:

i am going out of town for 5 days and i usually have a neighbor that will check on my cat. i just added a new cat to our household 2/3 weeks ago and i'm worried about how they are going to interact while we're gone. i'm worried about the new one attacking my older one! also, i've never left the new one alone for this long in the house, so what can i do to encourage her to not destroy our house and to not feel like we've abandoned her?

#2: since we got the new cat, they've gradually started tolerating each other, but are not yet the best of friends. my older cat isn't being playful and is isolating herself from all of us. sometimes i carry her to where we are so that she won't feel left out, but how can i get her to do this on her own? she seems to be particularly upset with me! she used to sleep with us and come out on the deck with us at night and now she's not really interacting with us at all. i know this is a bad time to leave town, but it's a family wedding!

ok, that was way more than 2 questions, but i appreciate any advice! thanks

I'd keep the newest kitty isolated in a room with her litterbox, food and water. Because the kitty is new to the household, I wouldn't take the chance of leaving them alone with no one to supervise. It's best for the cats all around.

Good luck and happy vacationing!!

I agree with moosmom. Keep her in another room while you are gone.
