What does this mean?

My cat usually sleeps on my bed at night. Lately my cat hs wanted to climb on my chest and lick my face and knead bread. He is heavy and the kneading hurts (lol).

Last night, he got on my pillow where I was sleeping and has slept there all night. What does this mean?

Does he want to be closer to me or is he worried about me?

I have been told that my stepfather's cat slept on his back when he was ill and later we found out that my stepfather had had a heart attack.

Please enlighten me.

I agree that kitties often stay closer than normal if they know you are not happy or are sick. Or maybe kitty has decided you are one of his kitties, too - and wants to groom you and snuggle. Really! :)

When my husband had hip replacement surgery, Kuhio slept beside his incision and purred her brains out. She stayed there for weeks until he was completely healed. (I read somewhere that a cats purr is at the same ?frequency? that they use to promote bone grownth). Anyway, after that she returned to her normal spot. She always prefered to sleep on the pillow with us. No, no one had a brain tumor or anything.... :p It's just because she was always cold and you lose most body heat through your head. Princess Kuhio was just keeping herself warm. :D

Hi Tilly! Maybe it just means that your kitty wants to be close to you. Groucho sleeps with me every night and I find that I just can't fall asleep until he comes up. Perhaps it gives them a sense of comfort and security to curl up with us during the night. Your kitty knows he's loved, this is just one way of returning your love. I don't think there's anything wrong, relax and enjoy the snuggle time.

I don't know if this is a fact or not, but 4 days after I posted this, a very dear loved one that was extremely close to the cat I wrote about, passed away and the cause of death was associated with their head.

I know we all believe differently, but I believe that this cat knew this was going to happen. Cats, animals for that matter, are very intuitive. THey know when storms are coming long before we know it. They know a lot that we don't see and/or know.

Four days after I posted this, a very dear loved one that was extremely close to the cat I wrote about and the most wonderful person that I have ever met in my life, passed away. The cause of death was associated with their head.

Mine are the complete opposite. Last week I was deathly ill with either a virulent bug or food poisoning and my boys wouldn't even come into the bedroom. Believe me, I would have loved for a nice furry body to keep me company, but no way. :(

Oh gosh I sure hope this isn't true cause our cats sleep at our heads nightly. I place one pillow above mine for this reason. I'm sorry to hear you lost a loved one.

I don't think that it would matter in your case because that is normal for your cats. However, my cat never slept on the pillow like that so it caused me some concerns. My cat was right. Now my spouse is deceased and I am having the most difficult time trying to survive from one second to the next.
