Benny (3 mon. Pekingese) has been vomiting for 2 weeks now. I've taken him to the vet 3 times and the emergency hospital once. They say its just a cold, and he will get better but he's not. After he gets a shot he's fine for a couple days and then he's back to throwing up. The vet bills are getting too big for me to keep bringing him back ever three days! His vomit is a yellow foamy substance. Sometimes he gags himself so much that he falls over and passes out for a couple seconds. Its getting serious and I don't know what else to do. I can't help to think that this is more thatn just a cold. And he's so young that it scares me that he might have sometihng that could be fatal. I was wondering if any of you have ever had a problem similar to this. Or if you know any web sites that could help me. I would be grateful for any suggestions! Thank you all!

Here are some Web sites where you can get information:

http://www.petvets.com

I don't have any experience with that kind of problem but it sounds like more than a cold to me too. With hopes that poor little Benny gets over his troubles soon, we send him a big hug.

You could get another vets opinion if you don't feel this one is giving you complete and accurate information.
Until Dusty, I never had the experience you speak of. He was constantly throwing up as a puppy. Sometimes it was so loose and watery and then other times yellow and foamy. But the vet said he could not find anything wrong and it was probably some food allergy.
I started to pay attention to his diet more diligently. I discovered it was liver he was allergic to. I use to give both Dixie and Dusty Bil-Jac liver treats for training. Dixie never had a problem and loved them so I figured Dusty would too. Every time he got liver treats, he would throw up. Once I believed it to be the liver, I stopped giving it to him and the throwing up stopped. Then to test the theory I gave him one day and sure enough he threw up again. He has not had liver for over 1/2 a year and he is doing great!
Perhaps a food such as California Natural would help since the ingredients list is very limited. But ultimately you need to feel comfortable with your vet and his recommendation.

Poor little Benny:( If you have any question that your vet may be missing something here, please do seek another opinion. I know we had a fairly recent post about this problem with another PT pup. I'll try to find it. Please give Benny a big hug. He'll be on my prayer list!

Thanks so much for the prayers and websites!!! Benny is acctually doing better and if he starts vomiting again I plan to seek another vet. I just love Pet Talk. Everyone here is so uplifting in times of crisis!:) Thanks again for all your help!
Just wanted to say I am glad Benny is doing better
and I hope he keeps getting better.
Rocky was a sickly puppy and he use to spit up a lot too,
but never to the point he would
pass out.
I will keep thinking good thoughts for your Benny!

Glad to hear that Benny is better.
I'm pleased that Benny is doing better. I agree if you're not satisfied get a second opinion. And definitely look into food allergies.
