Does anyone have a bird bath?

If so I was wondering if the birdies use it. I was looking out the window and we have a little duck food pan, full of water and a bird went and played in it. I was wondering if you had a bird bath and if the birds use it. I think that would be a lovely gift for my mother next year and so I just want to see if it’s worth my money.

we have a bird bath and it is a lot of fun to watch birds taking a bath. Robins seem to especially like it. They'll put their heads in the water and splash water on themselves and they look like they really enjoy it.

You want to be able to have at a quiet location where they will feel safe, but also its fun to make sure you have a view from a window so you can watch them.

I've got 3 in my back yard and they are all used heavily. I refill them with clean water every evening when I water my flowers. I usually have a wide variety of birds, squirrels and even chipmunks in them. One is tall and the other two are short, about 12-15 inches off the ground. The chipmunks can hop into those. I've even seen a raccoon drinking from one of them. I love to watch all the wildlife in them but I think the cats love it more. Also I have several bird feeders in the yard I keep filled with food which helps to attract all the birds and critters too.

Yes, we have a bird bath for all the little critters. Mostly birds, but also feral cats and raccoons.

For the winter months, we have a heated bird bath and it is very rewarding to see the little critters take advantage of fresh water when it's so cold outside!

yes, I have a birdbath in our front yard underneath our Silver Maple. I keep it clean and full . I haven't seen any other critter use it, but... that's not saying they dont.

When it is real hot outside, Mourning Doves perch on it for awhile, sort of like hanging out at the pool I suppose.

I look forward to watching the birds take a lively splash in it. Your Mother would certainly like one too.

Yep, in fact I just cleaned it out this past weekend. It's so calming to watch all kinds of birds and an occassional squirrel. I'm thinking about a bird feeder next.

Yes, we have a bird bath. The cats use it as an outside water bowl, but birds do use it as well, particularly in the winter.

My birdbath is the most well visited thing in the neighborhood. It almost always has birds, cats, and squirrels, using it for bathing and drinking. I'm thinking of getting another one :)

We don't have squirrels or racoons around, so thanks, I will probally buy it for my mom. She loves watching birds.

We have a bird bath and we've had it for about 4 years. We don't fill it up in spring, autumn and winter as the rain usually does that for us:rolleyes: but it's quite popular at the moment. Although, I have noticed that the birds tend to drink from the bird bath, and bath in puddles o__0

Yes, we have a birdbath in our frot yard... don't recall ever seeing the birdies use it, but the dogs sure do! lol! :D

Of course I do its very important for birds on hot summer days I think everyone should have one ponds are good too.

Ok some people dont wanna put the water out in winter but actualy that is realy when we should be puting our bird baths out.In the winter water is frozen and the birds can't drink it till it melt's you may think they can just peck at it but they can't its too cold for there little beaks and its hard for them to swallow chunks of ice.

What you can do is get some hot water and put it in the bird bath or buy one of those winter heated bird bathes so the water shall never freez and the birds shall be thanking you.I was suprised at how many birds came to drink Bluejays,Sparrows,Starlings,Pigeons,Doves ect... they all loved the water with extra seeds on the side lol. :)

So keep that bird bath full ALL YEAR SPRING,SUMMER,FALL AND EVEN WINTER.

We have a little ornamental pond with a waterfall - the birds use the upper level as a bird bath and are in it everyday! I love watching them. The neighbors cats like to come drink out of the pond.

We have two and the birds LOVE it. One project on my list of "to do's" is to do a mosaic birdbath. You take a regular concrete birdbath and use tile or pieces of glass to create your design.

I love that mosaic idea myself Logan. I loved the one Kay got for her Mom for Mother's Day. Our K-Mart had sold out by the time I got there but the clerk said they were expecting more. I need to go tomorrow and check it out again :)

We have two in the summer and a heated one out in the winter. A bird bath is also a great way to get to see birds that you otherwise might not normally see that stop in for a drink. If your mom has any bird feeders out it'll probably be used right away, if not it may take a bit longer before you see many birds using it. I think it's a great idea for a gift :)
