Poor Cincy, never seems to get enough of the vet!!! Going back, to the first week of april, Cincy got really sick one night (vomitting). next day she seemed fine. About a week and a half later she had an aful bout of loose stools....again, seemed fine afterward. Now this week, Monday morning about 2:45 am she woke me up vomitting. I didn't feed her til about 4:30 pm Monday to give her a chance to work out whatever, figuring she had a bug or something, but she seemed okay, active and everything, but then got sick again Monday night about 8:30 pm. Rest of the week she has been great, until last night...we were out from about 6:00pm until about 1 am and left both girls in the kitchen. When we got home, she had again had accidents (and very runny, stinky ones) all over the room. I took her outside while ralph steam cleaned the carpet, and she was playing, seems fine. Today she is great, running around, playing...has been eating and drinking the whole time. I called the vet this morning and they were full for today, but said to keep an eye on her over the weekend, make sure she is eating and drinking and I made an appointment For Monday afternoon.
I know puppies get into things and she is a huge offender of this, so we try to watch her pretty close. I just worry cause this seems like an awful lot of instances in a short amount of time. Am I making a big deal out of nothing?

You are not making a big deal out of nothing! If you have done nothing differently as far as her food is concerned that could cause the problem, then I would have done exactly what you did.
I hope your Cincy will be better very soon. Hopefully the vet can give you some answers. I want Cincy to feel better! :)
You might just try boiled hamburger and rice when you feed her until her tummy is better, or until the vet can give you some idea of what is causing her problems.

Poor Cincy. I sure hope she gets to felling better soon. This reminds me of Duncan, the dog that ate the butter but they later found out had some small sticks in his tummy. He had the vomiting and loose stools too. You might ask you vet about checking for something like that. Animals are so sneaky and fast they can swollow something before you even know it. Fingers and paws all crossed for Cincy's fast recovery. Please keep us posted.

Thanks for the idea on the sticks...she loves to sneak things off the woodpile out back, and although we try to take things away... I will definatley mention that to the vet. I read the first of the Dogs and Butter thread, but never followed up on it :(

Cincy'sMom,
I'll be praying for Cincy to get a good checkup on Monday.
If she has gotten into something, (trash can) ,or ingested
something from outside ,that can really mess up her
belly. Does she have a fever, or anything? Here's hopeing
she gets a clean bill of heath from the Vet. Hugs to Cincy!!!

You are doing the right thing by taking her to the vet. Let us know what he says! I will say a prayer that it is nothing serious.
Yes I agree that it is amazing what a dog will eat. I have found some really strange things on pooper scooping patrol! I'm glad Cincy will be seeing the vet on Monday and hope that nothing is seriously wrong. I agree with Logan on the hamburger and rice diet. I have used that before on my vet's suggestion and it helps to bind up those loose stools. Good luck and keep us posted!

I don't think your making a big deal of it! If anything even seems to be wrong with them, I'm out and rushing them to the vet! They are my kids and that's what you'd do if you had children, right?! Hope she keeps feeling better, and let us know what the vet said, ok?

Poor, sweet Cincy!!:( My Star is one of those pups who will eat anything and everything. We've gone through the same stomach upsets as Cincy! We have to watch her constantly. We'll be sending dear Cincy girl our prayers that she will keep her food down and keep drinking fluids until her vet appt. Please keep us updated! Hugs to you sweet girl. We'll be thinking of you on Monday!

Good luck at the vet. I hope it is nothing but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Let us know what the vet says. And I agree with all the others your are not making a big deal. I worry about mine too. I'd rather take them 1 extra time to the vet than regret it later on.

We are back from the vet and she was not too worried. She said everything looks good...no fever, coloring is good, belly looks and feels good...said Cincy probally just had a bug or something and since it seems to be correcting itself (her poop was much firmer yesterday and today then it had been Friday and Saturday), they aren't going to do anything for now. She said if Cincy has another episode to call and talk to one of the vets and they would decide where to go from there. In the meantime, she gave us some anti-diharrea medicine in case she has a problem at night or on the weekend and we can't talk to them right away. So for now, we just watch her and keep our fingers crossed that Cincy did just have a bug.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It makes it so much easier to deal with these little issues, when there are people you can talk to about it who understand :)

I may have spoken too soon...
After we got back from the vet, the girls were playing, in the house and I was watching, no big deal. Fed them dinner about 5. (Regular kibble), did a little training, gave them each a couple treats, and they were chewing on rawhide. Ralph got home about 6 and by 6:15 Cincy was vommitting again. we took her to the 24 hour care service and got an injection to stop the vomitting and they gave us some pills for her. They suggested blood work and /or X-rays, but since she has stopped vomitting we opted to bring her home, keep an eye on her and call our vet in the morning. Both vets checked her temp, felt her belly, looked in her mouth and said she looks really good, which is why we decided to wait orvernight. I just feel more comfortable with our own vet, who knows her whole history and has taken care of Sadie for the last 1+ and Cincy since we got her. I am wondering though, is it the rawhide? I was giving them regular, and about 2 weeks ago I started buying pressed rawhide. This started about a week ago. May be a coincedence, but I am taking all rawhide away til we get this figured out....keep thinking of us :) Thanks :)

Cincy'sMom,
The rawhide chews could very well be the cause. I know
some people who give the chew flips everyday & it doesn't
cause any problems but Cincy could be allergic to them. Does
your vet know about the rawhide chew things? Ask them
about it. Prayers & Good Wishes for Cincy. Liz.
Will be thinking good thoughts of Cincy tomarrow that
she has nothing serious and better yet a clean
bill of health.

Good luck at the vets. I hope Cincy feels better real quick!
I hope you'll find what's causing the problem soon!

It's starting to sound like Cincy might have some sort of obstruction. When my Jingles was vomiting continually like Cincy is, X-rays showed multiple foreign objects! The vet kept her for a couple of days, checking her poop, and finally the culprits were passed. If Cincy is eating large chunks of the rawhide, not chewing they well, that might be the problem. I think having her belly x-rayed would be a good idea, ruling out a lot of possible causes. Hugs for sweet Cincy...Please let us know how the visit went. We'll be keeping all things crossed until we hear from you.

Well, we are back from the vet (again :) ) X-Rays showed something in Cincy stomach and colon, but we are not sure what. it seems to be moving through, just taking its own sweet time. No fever, no dehydration, no loss of energy (as Sadie will atest too :) ), and it didn't look like anything was obstructed. So...no food tonight, small breakfast tomorrow, check on her at lunchtime, if no vomitting we should be good to go, if she has vomitted she goes back in for more X-rays/tests. Here's hoping :)

I'm so glad you had that x-ray done. She was acting just like Duncan who had the sticks in his tummy. Now you know what to look for and what to do for her. Hope everything passes fine. Paws and fingers still crossed here for you both.

Glad to hear that at least you now know what you're dealing with and have some direction! We'll continue to hope that with time, this too will pass!;) Give big hugs to the brave Cincy girl!

I'm glad they found a reason for the vomiting. It is really worrisome to see them doing that and not have a reason for it. :(
I never feed my dogs rawhide. I saw a little pup about 4 months old get a soft soggy part stuck in it's throat and almost die. Someone actually did the heimlick on him and he was ok but it was close.
I give mine the super hard nylabones. They are agressive chewers and these things last a long time. It helps keep their teeth white too! :D

Well Cincy's Mom, I just caught up on your thread....Looks like we keep missing each other! Duncan is my dog who ate the butter which turned out to be sticks? or some foreign object in his belly! Crazy dogs!!!
I'm so glad Cincy is feeling better and sorry you had to go through all that. I know how worrisome it is...
Do you have to do "poop patrol" now too? I definitely understand and feel for you!
:p ;) :D

Soooo....what's the latest on Cincy?? Is the culprit in a pile in the backyard yet? I hope all is going better and Cincy is feeling better. We had a close encounter of the chocolate kind last night. DeeDee (the little thief) grabbed a bag of M&Ms off the counter and ate about 1/8 of a pound and promptly puked it up all over the living room, not once, but twice. We called Dr. B. and he said that a 25 pound dog (DeeDee's size) can eat up to 5 ounces of pure baker's chocolate without being fatal and milk chocolate is so watered down that she could have eaten 3/4 of a bag and still been ok and the fact that she threw it up was a great sign.
It sure doesn't sound like many of us are having very good weeks.

Yep, We are on poop patrol here too :) Things looked good today. Haven't found much in the yar yet though...maybe some pine needles, but they may have attached themselves after the fact. Not really sure...Cincy ate 3 small meals ( I figured with almost 48 hours of no food too much at once and she would woof it down) and has had no issues (vomitting or diharrea) Let's hope it continues :)
Candy-where do you get the nylabones? All the ones I have found here are the flavored ones that aren't very hard and they get through those really quickly.

Well, it has been since Monday since Cincy last vomitted and things seem to be going well! No more diharrea either :) Haven't found anything in the yard that looks like it made her sick, but whose knows...just glad things are going well. I have not given them anymore rawhide and did go get some Nylabones, so maybe that is helping :)
I have to tell you how great Ralph has been through all of this...the first Sunday about 2 weeks ago, when this started, Cincy got sick at 2:45 am. She stoped with in about 15 mintues, once her stomach was empty, but Ralph slept the rest of the night on the kitchen floor (we have pcoket doors to close off this room) to be with her and make sure she was okay. I woke up at 4:30 to check on her and he said she had been fine and was sleeping. i suggested he put her in her carte and come to be, but he didn't want to leave her in case she did get sick again and would have to stay with until I got up for work at 6am WHAT A GOOD DADDY HE IS!!!

Just read the posts and I am so happy to hear that Cincy is doing so well now. The daddies do love their girls, as Daisy's daddy is always hugging and kissing her. It sounds like Cincy's daddy is the same. Hugs and kisses to Cincy from Daisy and Perry.
