Hi urine pH??

I've been treating Bear for high urine pH (8.4) over the past 2 months. The initial urinalysis showed crystals in the urine which a course of antibiotics cleared up but the pH didn't drop. The vet had me give him vitamin C for about 2 weeks, but it's still just as high. The vet wants me to just keep an eye on him and if he gets crystals again we'll have to put him on w/d. No one seems to be able to figure out why it's so high so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations or experience with this type of problem?

I should add he's never shown any symptoms and the blood work showed normal kidney functions. He has a slightly elevated thyroid level and one of his liver enzymes is a little elevated.

Good luck with this. The only thing that pops into my head with unusual pH in urine is diabetes, but I'm sure your vet probably already has done analysis for that, right? And I'm not sure which way the pH goes with that anyway...all I know is that one symptom is that they urinate a LOT when they get diabetic.
