Nope. There's nothing in the world I'd want printed on my body for the rest of my life.... And I get grossed out seeing old people with saggy, old tattoo's.

Don't have one, but want one.
I'll be getting Simba's paw print - ink on paper print for the artist to copy - probably on my arm. I may get the girl's too, eventually.
My friend Laurie just got all three of her kid's baby footprints on her arm. It's really nice and personal IMO.

I really don't think I would ever get one. I too have seen too many old people with them and they look dreadful. To each his/her own.

I want one, but I have to wait until I'm older. For my wedding ring I want to get a tattooed one instead of an actual ring. I would also like a few smaller ones on my arm(s) and back, possibly ankles.

That's a VERY good idea!!
I have one planned of Niņo that my parents said they'd get for me when I turn 18, because I have wanted it since I was 14 and it hasn't changed in my mind, even though I have been so indescisive. I want his head on top of a cursive N, with the words "Heart and Soul" above it and "Niņo" bellow it. I want the text to look similar to the font Tempus Sans. I want it in black and grey and I will require the artist to meet Niņo and I before and as he/she sketches it so he/she can see the bond. I want it on the top of my foot facing me.
I have a few others planned as well. My mom thinks they look trashy but I think they are a part of your body, of you, if you choose to get one. I hate when dress codes include "no visible tatoos"

Well that's usually because some people can have tattoos that others will find offensive, and that would reflect upon the company you work for not you as an individual. That's like if I were to rob a bank wearing my PetCo work shirt, it would give PetCo a bad name, you know?
There was a guy I used to work with who had a tattoo of a dead bird on his forearm. He had to cover it up at work every day for obvious reasons (this was at PetCo... lol).
Anyway I think tattoos are fine so long as they are tasteful and have MEANING behind them. I can't stand it when people are plastered with tattoos of their favorite bands and stuff. Its so... I don't know, I think it looks trashy then. But something small, tasteful, and has MEANING behind it and I find those fascinating.

well, I agree about that, but when it's a tribute to your cat (like I saw on some guy the other day) you shouldn't have to cover it up.

I agree with that wholeheartedly, but it doesn't matter the message in most cases its how the other party perceives it, and as crazy as it sounds, some find all tattoos offensive, so the companies have to protect their "image".

I do not like the look, especially big ones. Small ones can be cute sometimes, depending on what it is and where it is. I never want a tattoo.
I dont have one yet, but I am getting Happy and Misty tatooed on my back, I would like to design a tatoo so that I can add dogs, like have Happy and Mistys faces now, but I would like to be able to add the faces of futire dogs as well :p
my dad got me into tatooes, he has like 10 at least lol
you can see some of them here:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y229/Dakota_puppy/f7b44ca4.jpg
on one arm he has the family crest and and celtic cross, on the other arm he has a flaming dove, and an muscled arm breaking a chain, on his chest he has marvin the martian, and a heart looking at a hole in itself, on his legs he has a compase(the big colourful one in the pic), a silloette of a man running against a maple leaf, and the logo for the death race. on his back he has a a scripture verse about running tattooed in an arch. he might have more now for all I know lol my dad is an "old guy" by the way, that pic is from his 50th birthday lol

I have a dragon and plan on getting alot more tattoos - when I can afford it. My tattoo took just over an hour and costed me over $100! I REALLY want a half sleeve, on my arm with the dragon. I am going to draw my own tattoos next time though. :D

I personally would never get one but I think they are fine if people really enjoy them. Kay I think paw prints and baby foot prints would make awesome tatoos. I would have never thought of that.

Now... are you sure it actually says "forgive"? Because a lot of non-Chinese/Japanese (whatever) speaking people will get Japanese or Chinese characters tattood on them thinking it means one thing, when it really means something else. We just think they LOOK cool. Funny story, my fiance's aunt is Japanese 100% born and raised in Japan. He had a shirt that had some Japanese symbols on them. She was over to visit one summer and he was wearing the shirt... and she just started laughing.. and laughing.. and he asked "WHAT" and she asked if he knew what his shirt said. He said "yeah, peace and love" or something like that. She said, oh no, no it does not say that at all... it said something else, something.. that could be offensive to some... lol.
Same thing for Japanese or Chinese people wearing tshirts with english words or phrases on them. They think they say one thing, when they really mean something else.... ever browse through the clothing section at http://engrish.com hehehehehe

no but i do want a couple some day. :)
I love tattoos and don't see anything wrong with them if that's what you like. I myself have 10 and don't regret getting them at all. Naturally, as you get older they wither along with your skin, but that's something that you have to learn to live with. Tattoos are permanent and wrinkling is inevitable. I have one of my chihuahua, Killer (black/tan), who died on July 9, 1994 and it's very special to me. I sent his photo to my tattoo artist and he did a black/gray portrait of him on my forearm. I had this dog for 18 years of my life and what better way to remember him by than a portrait of my best friend. Two months after my dog died, I found a chocolate chihuahua, Choco, who has now been with me for 12 years and I have his name and my cat's paw prints tattooed in the form of a bracelet with hearts. I also have a tribal sun on my back with my husband's name. On my other forearm I have a dragon with butterfly wings and on my ankle I have a cute stick person and a stick dog underneath a stick sun, which I tell people is me and my dog walking under the sun. Granted, people are going to get the wrong impression when they see anyone with tattoos. That's just the way it is in our society, but they have to get passed that and get to know the person inside. I've covered my tats and let people get to know the real me and then I show them my tats...then they freak out! :D Tattoos aren't for everyone, but I see them as body art and not ugly at all. ;) My next one is going to be a portrait of my Dad, who passed on December 16, 2000. He was the best guy ever. He taught me everything I know about farm work. I really miss that 'ol man a lot. :( :( :(

I believe harsh generalizations made about tattoos are ill coneived and find them to be wrong in the most part. I have seen many older folks who have tats and they are not "saggy" and gross looking (These being 60+ year old folks). It is each persons decision. I find it to be as "normal" as, say, picking out a dress. It doesn't matter if you, personally, find it unattractive as the person with it *does*, it means something to them, and that should be respected.
Not trying to irritate anyone, as a side note. :)

I hope to have sleeves, a backpiece, a chest piece, and a small one on my foot. I hope to have several piercings as well. :) I find it beautiful and expressive (except for in the case of an ex friend who decided to tattoo himself with a safety pin and BIC ink! NOT healthy, safe, or sanitary. ).

I can't speak for anyone else, but when *I* see a tattoo on an older person and it's all faded & saggy/wrinkly, it grosses me out. I don't see it and think "Oh wow, that's beautiful" I see it and think "Ewww I wonder if they thought about how it would look 50 years later, when they got it." It's not that I'm not respecting someone's decision to get a tattoo, it's just that I think they are ill looking at that point. Both of my grandfathers were in the navy & both have tattoos on their arms. They are faded and nasty looking now, and I just don't like the way they look. There's no way I'd want something on my body that will look like that in 40 + years

I totally agree! It might be expressive to you and a few others but the majority of society thinks it is a sign of being bad. Not trying to be offfensive but I am just saying it is true. The same with body piercings and stuff. Again not trying to be offensive but how do you expect to get decent job with a bunch of pircings and tattoes! People think that if you look like that you are bad and weird and you may not be but why would you want to make youself look like that? Sure we shouldn't judge people but still if God had intended us to get tattoes we would have been born with them. And with a bunch of stuff what are you going to do when you get older with a bunch of piercings? I mean get a henna tattoo if you must have one. Live with that for a while and see how it goes if you like it suit your self! Not trying to make anybody upset though. I understand it is a way to remember somebody but stil there are other ways to remember. :)

I'm with pinksunshine and shihtzulover. On some people, tattoos look cute. On me, weird, plus my mum would probably disown me if I got one :p I think it's kind of scary and even off putting when you see some fifty-something bloke or woman walking along tattooed all along their arms and legs with piercings left right and centre. But a little one should be OK. I just hate the ones that go overboard. ;)

I think this society needs to get over the fact that stereotypes are often wrong. The very reason I dyed my hair pink and orange was so that I didn't have to deal with anyone who couldn't see past what I choose to to to my body that is not harming anyone and get to know the real me. My riding instructor is the kindest, smartest person I know, she is a great teacher, and she has so many face peircings I lost count. But you know what, that's her decision, and it's a part of her, I don't even notice them when I look at her now, that's just her and she's a beautiful person, inside and out. My step-dad's a highschool teacher and loves helping kids, and he has 2 tattoos. My uncle's a very smart person, common sence wise and scientifically. He's a biochemisist and he has a DNA chain around his arm.

Stereotypes ARE often wrong, and I never judge someone based solely on look alone, but at the same time it is human nature to label and categorize things nad we will NEVER, EVER get away from that, no matter how hard we try. Even if its on a subconscious level, it will always happen and we will always do it.

Very true. If I saw some poorly done tattoo that was saggy and whatnot then I probably wouldnt find it very nice to look at, either. Ironically, I've never seen a saggy tattoo just really poor (in terms of quality) ones.
This reminds me of someone. I had a teacher in high school named Jan. She had a brother who was a business man. He drove a Harley. Their mother was verrrrry strict. When it came time that her brother passed, and they were present when the folks were undressing his body, he was completely covered in tattoos from neck to ankles. Her mother had a fit. I don't know how that was relevant, I just thought it was a humorous little anecdote! :D

Yes but most of the time someone has a tattoo it is some motorcyclist big burly guy who has one (at least here that is the case). And not trying to be rude here but society isn't going to get over these stereotypes types anytime soon so if you don't want to be stereotyped you shouldn't put yourself there. All I am trying to say is that there are other ways to express yourself. But if you want to get a tattoo suit yourself. :) and even if you aren't bad a lot of parents will see you as a bad influence on their kids. I don't agree with stereotyping either but sometimes we just have to put up with it. :)

I am 45 and in my era tattoos had a bad stigma but I think that has totally changed. Not sure I would ever get one but I like them on others if they are tasteful.
Yes but most of the time someone has a tattoo it is some motorcyclist big burly guy who has one
i spend hours upon hours in a tattoo shop every day. only 1 in about every 150 people are big burly motorcycle people. decked out in leather chaps. most of the people that come into the shop for tattoos are people between the ages of 18-30. normal people you see walking down the street. you'd be amazed just "who" gets tattoos. my mom has tattooed 2 catholic priests, school teachers, 80yr old grandmothers, etc. there is a guy named Brian that comes into the tattoo shop nearly every day. he's COVERED in tats! but they are everywhere but his hands, head and neck. no one knows he has them until he takes off his shirt. he reveals all the hours of hard work that my mom has put into his tats. people are often shocked. he's such a well mannered, upper class kind of guy.
i understand that media makes everyone think that tattoo shops are dirty, scummy, and places that no one should go. in reality a lot of them are. there are some NASTY shops out there! fortinatly the health department has said that our shop is as clean if not cleaner than a docter's office. :)

NEVER. They look Terrible when you get old. They cost a lot of money. They are difficult, painful and expensive to remove. And to me, nothing looks worse than a beautiful girl in an evening gown or a handsome man in a nice white dress shirt and all you can see is the tattoo.
Small tasteful ones aren't too bad but still. We expect people to look professional in the work place, I just don't think they can look professional with a big tattoo hanging out of their sleeve. Sure it doesn't say anything about their personalities or their professionalism but you know what they say about first impressions.

I know it could be wrong to think of stereotypical tattoos, but can everyone honestly say that they've never felt even just the slightest bit intimidated when you're walking somewhere quiet on your own and a huge man drenched in tattoos walks by? I know I do. Of course they could be perfectly nice people but it's the initial image they give. I mean, everybody I know parent's would have told their kids to stay away from people like that, that is NOT meant offensively it's just the way it is.

Like, Breanne said I would POSSIBLY get a small black paw print. I would want it on my arm though. It wouldn't be anything big or an attention getter. Just something personal, IMO.

our website is being worked on at the moment, but we do have a myspace page that has some of the work she's done on it. she is VERY good at portraits. she does quite a few. my personal favorite was the Vizsla portrait she did on one of my dog show friends.
you should definatly come to get a tat! bring that adorable pup of your too! :D
I'll check out that myspace page now, is it in your favorites?
