I am new to this site. I am looking for a site where people will pray for my dog. She had stopped eating dog food approximately 2 weeks ago. She was still eating treats and table food. We recently had rescued 2 cats and I kind of thought that my dog Dixie might be a little jealous - so I really didn't think too much of it since she was acting ok. I took her to the vet to be checked out, and much to my surprise, my vet told me that she was ill. He ran lots of tests and the only thing that showed up was a low red blood count and a high white blood count. Dixie was diagnosed with lymphomia 3 years ago. She did chemo and was cancer free. My vet said he was afraid that her cancer had possibly come back. He checked lymph nodes and aspirated several growths; however, they came back all ok and no sign of cancer. He sent of her blood work to a pathologist and won't have results until next Wednesday because of the holiday. He gave me prednisone and told me that I would probably see a 100% tunraround in her on Saturday. However, just the opposite happened. On Saturday, she didn't want to eat and would no longer walk or play. All she wants to dois lay down. If I took water to her, she would drink. This morning we took her to Emergency Vet. They noticed that her eyes and gums are jaundiced. They said she was severly anemic. I expalined what had happened on Friday, and he assured me that she obviously wasn't jaundiced on Friday because there was no way any vet would allow me to leave. Any way, they told me that a normal range for the red blood cells is 35 to 45 % and Dixie's was 14%. He told me that she was very ill. I called 2 hours ago, and she is now at 12%, so they are going to start a blood transfusion. I am scared to death of losing her. She means everything to me. I ask for any and all prayers for my beagle, Dixie. How can a dog who was just fine on Friday (other than not eating dog food but still eating treats and table food) suddenly be so sick??? Thanks to all who will pray for her!!

Rest in peace, Dixie. Dogs will often hide any symptoms, and cannot tell us "mum, my tummy feels a bit odd" or anything, and so their death comes so swiftly that it stuns us.

Rest in peace, Dixie, dear, there are myriad of scent trails up there at the Rainbow Bridge, and butterflies to chase, okay?

Dixie's person, I have moved this to Dog Memorial, where it now, sadly, belongs.

Dear Kristi, the story about your Dixie has really touched my heart, and I am so sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could say that would help, I can't even imagine the pain you must be going through.

I know this is a sad time for you, and I will pray for your healing. I hope you stick around pet talk, and share your memories with us of your precious dog.
