Caught on film: Britney baby bobble feeds tabloid turmoil (http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/05/19/spears.ap/index.html)
Is anybody else sick of hearing about this?? I would like to know just one mother who never goofed, who never ever had an accident, or who was perfect in every single way. And can someone please tell me why Britney is held to such a high standard?? She is human, not some goddess like some people would like to think.
But leave her alone. Please?? In a way I feel so sad for her because I am sure that the tabloids must hurt her in some ways, unless she is strong enough to just laugh them off. But I am sure she is trying really hard to be a good mom, and that she loves her son.
What are your thoughts?

Right there with you Anna, I wish they'd just leave her alone but we all know that's never going to happen.
I'm sure the circumstances surrounding the picture were much different than what we are being led to believe.

I do feel sorry for her and the baby. My goodness, it says she TRIPPED! Who hasn't tripped? Goodness, I do not envy the 'stars' their loss of privacy, and I pity the 'non stars' that are so fascinated by their lives they stoop to any level to sell papers.
At the end of the day, though, it is us 'non stars' that keep the cycle going. :o

The press really has a field day with her don't they.Follow her every
move. If she knows this, why doesn't she go out of her way
to act totally circumspect in public view? She really should use both hands
in carrying the baby. There are dumb people everywhere, but their names
aren't famous. :)

I'm such a typical libra. As usual, I'm torn.
On the one hand, she seems a little careless. The whole driving with him in her lap, the forward facing car seat with him only being 8 months and now this.
On the other hand, she was driving with him in her lap because she was being chased by paporatzi (sp?), and she was probably running from them with this new trip. I can't explain the car seat thing though.
I just can't imagine how it would feel to have people chasing you everywhere you go just waiting for you to flub up so it can be broadcast on the evening news.

It annoys me when stuff like this is considered 'news'. I've just been watching ITV news and Britney's trip was one of the top headlines. Honestly, there are more things to life than taking the mick out of celebs. I think that comment she made, 'this is why I need a gun', may have been a little unwise though, especially when she knows the papparazzi (sp?) are always on her back.

Agreed.
SHe was holding another object at the same time as her child while in a tricky dress, BAD! She was holding the baby in her lap while in the car, BAD!
Just those are really BAD parenting skills!!!

All those famouse as ppl call them lol they should be left alone and yes Britney does need some momy tips i think but Meadia is way too deep in there lives give them some air maybe if there was less media our fav actors, singers, comedians ect... would have a better life leave them alone for the movies and t.v isent that enough do we realy need to see who broke up and who fell in love well maybe falling in love but not the bad news I dont wanna here about it I mean next we'll all be jumping in there house and having diner with them lol.

Why are we so amazed at her lack in parenting judgement? She has repeatedly made bad choices, so what surprises us about her lack of mothering skills? She's more like a 10 year old with a baby doll than a grown woman with a real baby. She's been so sheltered and put on such a pedestal that the reality of how to care for a child is beyond her.
Who's fault is that? Hers? Her mother's for not teaching her good values and life lessons as she grew up in the spotlight? the press for not letting her alone for half a second? I know if I was under constant scrutiny that I'd be shown as a bad person too... especially since it seems Amercia is DYING to see the pop princess mess up again -- just so we can say "Oops she did it again"

Well she threw herself in the spotlight at a young age, milked it for all its worth, now she wants out of it... she created a media monster lol
But anyway, I don't think its a big deal, CLEARLY he is ok and has no obvious injuries, and CLEARLY she feels awful about the entire situation:

The only thing that made me wince was when the babies head snapped back, that was a little scary. And his hat did not "fly" off like it says in articles, it FELL off.
EDIT: And why you would wear a bra with that shirt... or at least THAT bra with that shirt... is beyond me lol

I think they should just leave her alone. Maybe she tries to be a good mother but can't because of the Media and papparazzi are always on her tail. In this article it says she tripped while holding a baby. I'm sure other people have tripped on their pants and some might've even had a baby in their hands, but why did they have to make such a big deal about it. She tripped while holding a baby. That doesn't show that she is a poor parent. Maybe her other actions do, but this one is just a common thing that happens. I feel sorry for her. Nobody's perfect.

Totally careless, but I remember when I was a child riding in the back of pick/up trucks all the time. Heck, my cousins and I used to ride a moped on our property from about age 7. I said it once, I can say it again, poor girl. :(

I'm sick of her period. Great to know that she's knocked up again, too. Notice she didn't even spill her drink? Being a star is a package deal, taking the good with the bad. She gives the press plenty of ammo, that's for sure.

This is something I'm pretty tired of hearing about, but it makes me nervous that she's had so many "baby blunders" in such a short period of time.
So far she's ridden with the baby on her lap. I know everybody reacts to things differently, but she's been in the spotlight for...how long, now? Photographers shouldn't flip her out so much that she feels the need to FLEE. Push through the people, buckle baby up, and then drive away. Seems simple enough. Trying to drive with him on her lap was SO irresponsible. Even if she had one hand on the wheel, one hand on him - what if she made a short stop and he fell, smacking his head onto the wheel or something? That was just...disgusting.
Then, poor baby Sean fractures his skull. "The Highchair - It broke!"...."The Nanny - SHE did it!" It's all a bit weird that they couldn't even provide a consistent story.
Then, the carseat being in wrong. It's true that baby might be over 20lbs (which makes it okay in some states).
But then this? I can't get over the fact that she didn't even drop her drink. I once slipped on the stairs. I had my Umbrella Cockatoo on one arm, a glass of water in the other hand, and the arm holding the glass over his back to prevent any "flap-ies". It only took a micro second for me to let go of my glass, grab onto the railing, and protect Zeeba with my shoulder as I fell. She just let his head snap back. That's pretty strange. I know some people might have slow reflexes which could make super-fast-catches harder, but if they're going to be walking through crowds (or anywhere else), they should at least have two hands free. If they can't afford that, then there are plenty of baby carriers out there which could secure him to her chest. 'Seems that might be a good option for her...but maybe Gucci hasn't started selling them yet.

Not that I care about Britney Spears, but that poor kid! My first question when I read about it was, "What was in that glass that was so damn important she didn't want to spill it??"

If my mother were being followed around by crowds of cameras and people all the time, you can bet they would catch her every mistake, too, if not cause some themselves.
Not defending Britany but, still. You have to take some of that into consideration. NO parent is perfect, and all parents have made mistakes like that before. Well, maybe not EXACTLY like the one she made, but come on? I can think of a number of times in my childhood when we rode around in the back of the truck bed, or my parents sat me on their lap and "let me drive/steer" the truck without a seatbelt on.
I still don't like the woman, but you HAVE to take that into consideration.

Gracious me. I am going to accuse most mothers on here of amnesia! I carry Jonah and alot of other stuff alot of the time. While I do maintain distance between him and anything hot in my hands, I couldn't get out the door in the morning if I didn't have stuff in my arms. My purse? His 'things'? The cat food for the cat across the street? My briefcase? How about the groceries?
Accidents happen. I don't know how I would react to a bunch of camera crazy people running after me (as if....he he he). I have tripped, I have stumbled, shoot, once I accidently bumped Jonah's head on the doorway! It happens. Does it make me feel good? No, but, it does help to remind me I am human. Thankfully, or else, I would have to get that Halo around my head set back up. :D

I have 3 siblings, and I'm not sure which one of us it was, but I know one of us rolled off the change table when we were small. And my friend Lauren said that one time her mom heard a noise, she came to the room, and Lauren was on the floor with the cradle upside down on top of her.

I have never been a mother so I am not in a position to judge her skills. I do feel very sorry for her....she is not the brightest bulb and to be so "under the microscope" would be horrid, horrid, horrid.
But then again I think the woman in the produce department just now....with two horridly behaved little boys...yelling and running and throwing produce around is a rather bad example as well. Unfortunately she does have anyone taking photos and beaming them around the world. :D

My opinion?
She brought it on herself. All those stars that are constantly in the tabloids with their relationships, their problems, their children. They all bring it on themselves. There are plenty of big name stars out there with children and with families and husbands/wives of their own and they aren't under constant scrutiny. You know why? Because they didn't ask for it. They didn't make big announcements saying "we are having a baby" "the baby is due this day" " me and so and so are getting married" "I am so in love with so and so"
They do interviews in mags, newspapers, talk shows etc etc. Look at beyonce. She is very discreet about her relationship with Jay Z. She is a HUGE star but she doesn't give the tabloids the ammo to fire at her with. She has a private life as well as her "famous" lifestyle. Beyonce the entertainer and Beyonce the person are seperate. She knows better than to mix the two.
I do not feel sorry for Britney, or tom, or angelina and Brad. THEY put themselves in the position to be scrutinized and watched. They made it everyones business. Now they have to deal with it

I'm sick of hearing about her "tripping" and almost dropping her baby. Who hasn't tripped once in their life? Seriously, It's just pathetic. I hear it all the time and it's on the top headlines. This is what reporters do ALL day??? They follow famous stars around just to put on the news that they fell? What is our world coming to? I honestly feel sorry for her, even though I'm not a huge fan of her. She never gets any privacy at all. They didn't go on and on about Micheal Jackson holding his baby over the balacany but they have to put Brittney Spears in the spotlight for tripping? It's really disgusting.

Everyone has tripped at least once in their life! What's the big deal?? It's not like she's abusing her baby, that's what they make it sound like. I'm really sick of hearing about it. I saw the interview w/ Britney Spears, she's very upset about what the media says about her. She just wishes they'd leave her and her son alone. Although I'm not the biggest fan, I too feel bad for her.
