Well I can't believe Lily. My husband said after I gone to work, when he got up, he went into the kitchen and saw Lily eating. The refrigerator door was wide open and she got some food out.

I don't get this. I did NOT leave the door open I know that. But I'm wondering if it didn't get quite shut all the way and she managed to nudge it open. We had leftover food from a japanese steakhouse, probably a good pound or 2, mostly rice with some meat.

The onions would have been barely a handful, perhaps 1/4th of a cup or so. Now she's a big dog, probably 75lbs and she's acting just fine but I wanted to check in for some opinions. This happened about 7 hours ago or so and she's been fine ever since. I had heard onions can be bad for dogs so I checked some sites but I like any opinions I can get.

From what I can tell we should watch her and make sure over the next couple days she's still acting OK. I will call my vet but they are closed now.

Really? Snuggles loves onions she eats any vegetables and she is fine. I think that is a myth cause she has never gotten sick from onions! :D

shihtzulover850: Onions can be bad for dogs, don't let Snuggles eat them! It is not a myth.

charlestongirl: if Lily's acting okay, then she'll probably be fine - the rice and other ingrediants probably were enough to "buffer" the effects of the onions. I wouldn't worry.

There are quite a few things that dogs shouldn't eat. Grapes and raisins are another big one that you may not know.

I heard raisins were bad. She has only had a few grapes by accident.
