Not sure if your local news is carrying what's happening here in the Northeast, but it's been raining here for 2 days and streets and towns are flooded and being evacuated. I took my Mom up to the beaches in Maine but had to come back down becuase of road closures. The NH beaches weren't much better - tons of roads closed due to water and roads washed out. It took us forever to get home because we had to keep turning around and finding detours. I told my Mom we should have gone to the movies for Mother's Day.

Well anyhow, the local news station is reporting a list of shelters and they are reporting that there are several pet shelters in the area. I was happy to see this. I guess after Katrina, there is a need for people to go to shelters that allows pets. Nice to know if I have to evacuate and I can't get to my relatives or friends homes, I can go to a pet shelter.

The local news just said they're going to run a story about how some family pets had to be rescued in the seacoast. I hope people aren't leaving their pets behind.

Just wanted to report the pet shelters. It just makes me feel good.

They learned from Katrina and are trying to pass (or already have) Laws to cover taking pets when you have to leave, requiring shelters to take pets. to be set up.. I would never leave mine behind, even if it meant having to live in my car with stinky litter boxes.

They just showed an elderly complex being evacuated. The rescuers told this one lady to leave her cat behind and she said "hell no". Good for her. I wouldn't leave my pets behind for a million dollars.

Laura's Babies, thanks for replying. I haven't been getting many (if any) replies to my threads lately and I'm beginning to get sad about it and taking it personally. :(
