Reggie went to the vet today. He's a 13 year old schnauzer for those who don't know who he is. He's had problems with drinking a lot of water and peeing in the house (bad enough he has to wear a diaper full time in the house :( ) for quite some time now. He went to the vet last year and had tests which didn't really show anything wrong, the medication he gave him to try then didn't help and it made his fur fall out. Also to make things more clear he is neutered this is not territorial peeing, he'll just be walking around and start squatting and peeing in random places.

The peeing problems seem to have been increasing. Also, he has never liked Nebo (my siberian husky) but within the past few months he has just been downright nasty with him. Nebo can't even walk past him without him jumping up and trying to bite him (he had to have most of his teeth pulled last year so he has not actually hurt Nebo). He has trouble making it up and down stairs and wanders constantly...he won't hold still, and he can't seem to get comfortable. He also shakes often, especially in his back legs. So we wondered of those issues could be because he is in pain although he does not really cry or act like he's in terrible pain.

So, for those reasons, he went to the vet today. The vet did a urine test and x-rays to rule out kidney stones. No kidney stones, but he did have some blood in his urine and something else was a little off but I don't remember what it was. He gave him a shot of testosterone I really cannot remember what he said that would help, some antibiotics if it is an infection in his kidneys, and something else to help if he has pain...sorry I'm fuzzy on the details he was hard to follow. Anyway, so we're hoping that will help Reggie!

Aw, Mr. Grump! So sorry Reggie is acting more crotchety than usual.
Hopefully you all find something to help him out a bit.

Amy I'm really sorry to hear that Reggie hasn't been doing so good lately. It's really hard to watch them get old isn't it? There's so much you wish you could do, but time takes it's toll on us all.
I'll be keeping him (and you and your mom too) in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry to hear that Reggie has been having such a tough time. Please give him gentle hugs for me, if he will let you. I am sure he did, but I just thought I would ask this anyway, did your doctor check for diabetes?

Poor old guy. :( I sure hope whatever the Vet gave him will help
Reggie feel a little better. Old age is not for sissies, that's for sure.
I know they say that about people, but probably old age is no fun for
dogs either. Hope you feel better Reggie.
