Measley Weasle is MISSING!!! I let her out this morning to roam the house a bit while the dog's were outside. She disapeared!!! I can't find her ANYWHERE!!! She usually hides behind the fridge/dishwasher. No sign of her.
I've sent Scooby under the house to sniff her out. Suspect she found an old rat hole. He didn't find her. He would try to eat her if he could!
I've called animal control who's also my neighbor and let him know. I've talked to several neighbors and many didn't even know what a ferret was!
Do you think she could have gone down an old Rat hole? I had a rat infestation last year. I put out poison under the house but it should be gone by now. Not enough time has passed to have any effect on her even if she had eaten by now. There's no real spot for her to get stuck in. I haven't heard anything move. I fear she made it outside somehow. What do you think I should do? She's being adopted this week too! I found her a home and the family is going to pick her up this weekend!!! HELP!!!

I think it is quite possible since it is in their nature to burrow. :(

Do not fret for they are sneaky little devils. I, once, let a ferret of mine out for some exercise in a room while I was in it and the door was shut. Well, after a while I couldn't hear her and FREAKED out. Lo and behold, she was under a dresser. Doing what? Sleeping. :)

It's now officially day 2 in the critter search!!! Still NO sign of her ANYWHERE. I fear she may have gotten stuck somewhere. I've looked around or near objects that could trap her but nothing. Not a single sound! My dogs would have responded as well. Scooby is part beagle/Jack Russell mix which makes his natural instinct to root rats/mice. He's tried to eat her head off twice!
I had kept the dogs outside while I searched so the ferret wouldn't be scared. However, that ferret isn't scared of the dogs or cats! She'd get right up to them and "play". That's when I usually have to jump in and get her out of Scooby's mouth!
I've spread the word out around the neighborhood. I told animal control in case they get a report. Someone may turn it in. I let people know she is friendly and doesn't bite. I just hope she hadn't gotten outside or eaten rat poison under the house! I am just trying NOT to cry!!!

I used to have a sugar glyder he ran off one night and i went CRAZY!! i freaked out not knowing where he could be the next morning i found him in my closet eating the seeds i had left him.

Put some food out for your ferret and put up sighns reward if you can one night just turn everything off and listen in your house for any sounds make shur no one walks and just try to listen do the same for outside.

Good luck hope you find him. :(

Is this the same beloved Measley Weasley? Did an excited Scooby4 accidentally post in Cat Memorial?

I'm so excited to hear she's home. I had such dark thoughts about a domestic ferret surviving outdoors..

If I have this wrong, please somebody PM me and I will delete this.

I accidently posted this under Cat Memorial. Don't know how! Sorry. So far she's in her cage and gave her a bath. I think she has a cold! I know I have one. Ferrets can catch colds from humans and vice-versa. So I am trying to avoid handling her too much right now.
She's pretty thin right now. She's never been a "big" ferret anyways. Hopefully, confining her for a few days will help her. I may go get her some vitamins or cold medicine. I saw some over the counter cold medicines for ferrets the other day. Didn't know that existed! She's got the "shakes" pretty bad right now. However, when she has a cold she shivers as well. She's done that in the past.
I am just pretty much "observing" her and watching her food/water intake. She's not overly eating but acts more thirsty. The thirst part has me concerned due to the possibility she had eaten poison. Although she's not overly doing it. I also put a wash cloth in with her to keep her warm. She loves towels!
Thanks for everyone's support! After the 4th day, I was for sure she was a goner! I was sure she was going to give a neighbor a heart attack too if she was found by them! That was my biggest concern was my neighbors finding her. It would have scared them! Thanks again! Will keep ya posted. I may delay the planned adoption again this weekend just in case!

I am glad you found her, but just a word of caution, if she has found some poison the longer you leave it the less chance you have of saving her, by the time she starts to show real signs the damage is irrepairable, shaking can also be a sign of nuro damage due to poison... i would get her checked by the vet asap. The older the poison the less potent... but it can still kill her.

I believe she has a cold! Her nose is running. Unfornately, I have a cold too! Ferrets can catch and give colds to humans! So I am trying to avoid handling her right now. I could make her sicker.
She's hating being in her cage right now. She's used to running around free in the bedroom. I want her to stay in the cage and eat/drink some more. She's too skinny. She needs her rest. I think plenty of rest will help her. So far no signs of poisoning or other ailments. Just the normal cold symptoms which should run it's course in the next few days. If not, then I will take her to the vet this week.
Right now, I have too many other animals with health issues for me to afford. I lost my job and unemployed. My cat recently broke her right hip and dislocated the other. Scooby has rubbed off his toenails due to his stroke condition. Shaggy is shedding everywhere and may need to get groomed. I am trying to deal with one issue at a time!
