Where in Louisiana? My boyfriend's from Leesville, and, his family still lives there. I went there for Easter, and, was on the Sabine River for most of it. Swam in Toledo Bend. And, gambled in Lake Charles. Fun, fun, fun! :) But, yeah, depending on where you're at, if we're going to get together in Texas, Louisiana folks might not have far to drive. ;) I know it's only five hours from where David lives to Leesville!

Shreveport. I think it's about thirty miles north of Leesville! :D That's where my sister and youngest brother were born! I was thinking about conjoined Louisiana/Texas meet but didn't know how that idea would flow amongst others. :)

Oh, yeah, I'd be down for that. :) I'd be cool with driving four or five hours somewhere. No more than that, unless it was going to be a huge gathering, like the ones in Utah. ;) But, for a few folks, heck yeah, I'd drive. Shreveport's not far from the metroplex at all...we could meet at a point between Houston, Dallas, and, Shreveport...if there is one. ;)

Maybe we could do something there...it's only about five hours from the metroplex, about four hours from Houston. And, the dogs could run around and play in the water and so could the people. ;) Just a thought!

Are there any dog parks in Shreveport? I know that would be cool, cuz I'd get a hotel and go into the city to the casinos at night. ;)

But, we could very well pick a point in the middle of all three major cities (Houston, Dallas, and, Shreveport), but, I don't know much about anything in that area...I guess if anyone shows interest in doing this, we could maybe look up dog parks or camp sites or something in that area...just brainstorming. :)

I am in Texas right now, and will be here until a little bit after June 10th (which is when my sisters wedding is). I live right over the Louisiana border in Texas, and Shreveport is definitely not that far.

Just depends on when it would take place before I know if I could come or not.

So, what's the consensus then? If we can do it before molucass leaves texas, we could at least have four or five us. would we want to meet in the dallas/fort worth area, closer to shreveport, or try to come up with somewhere right in the middle? dallas folks could carpool if it were to take place in shreveport, maybe. any other thoughts? any time frames that DON'T work for people? any drive that people are NOT willing to take? I'd like to make this happen, but, we definitely need some more specific ideas. :) I'm excited, though, just at the possibility!

I would love to come to a meeting dallas is also too far for me but I think my mom would be up to taking me to shreiveport!!....I will talk to her ....but it would probuly have to be on a fri-sunday cause I get out of school on the 24 of this month...yay!! only 8 more days lol but just let me know please so that I can let me job know and talk to my mom :D

are you saying only friday through sunday while you're still in school or once you're out? :) it's looking like we're getting more responses about shreveport...that's a start, anyway! :) i'd be more than willing to meet there. we'll have to see if there are any campsites or parks or dog parks to meet at.

I did a search on dogfriendly.com, and the only dog park I could find in Louisiana is in Lake Charles.

I don't know if you guys would be willing to go that far or not.

Well, as it stands for me right now is this: I do not have a drivers license, yet, so I can't drive. But I'd be more than willing to pay gas money + to anyone who would be willing to let me and (potentially) pup tag along with them! It all would depend on when the date was and when/if hubby could drive. I will not be available July 15-24.

sometime in July would be really great for me..... I don't know of any dog parks but I do know that there is a park right when I cross into the louisiana border it has water and trees and picnic tables....but if you need me to help you look for parks just let me know :D

OH wow, that would be great! As you know, Shreveport is just on the other side of the border. My husband, who was born and raised here, does not even know if there is a dog park in Shreveport or Bossier City. Any help would be much appreciated! :D

Also, I would much prefer to do one some time in July that way I can bring my pooch! :D

I mostly mean because you're actually in Shreveport. :) It doesn't make a difference to me, either way. :) There's just not much planning I can do when I'm not in the place we're meeting. ;) And, you're not imposing, it was your thought to begin with to have one in Louisiana!

WR, aren't you getting a baby chihuahua?? Do you think it would be very safe to bring a young pup to a dog park, or any park for that matter if it doesn't have all of its shots (or even if it does)? Chihuahuas are little, and can get diseases really easily.

I'm not trying to get all in your business or anything, I just personally wouldn't feel safe bringing a young chihuahua puppy to a park.
Our male, Deebo is a year old, and we still don't bring him to any type of park... We are even paranoid when we take him out at rest areas.

My mom and aunt/breeder also brought this to my attention a couple weeks ago and it just slipped my mind.

So, I guess my plans are open. :D I will still be getting the pooch but I won't be bring him/her. If I go to a meet then I will bring Bart. :D
