We have a new, huge recliner which arrived on Saturday. So far our three cats have either attacked it, or adopted it, or have run and hid
from it. One cat, LB, our year old male acted spooked for two days. Now he is loving it. Have your cats had the experience of the invasion from outer space?

Yes. The Beans have to "Inspect" EVERYTHING that come into the house. When we bought our recliner, Mocha Bean "Inspected" and it passed. Garbonzo Bean was afraid of it for about an hour, Now it is HIS recliner! :D

MY recliner quickly became THEIR recliner. They all love to sleep on it. Chester likes to climb on the back and chase his tail until he gets dizzy and falls off. Then he climbs back and makes it rock while he lays on the back. I think he thinks it's a Carnival ride. I swear he looks like he's saying, 'WHEEEE'.:)

We moved the recliner from the living room into the bedroom. When it was in the living room it was Tubby's favorite spot, but he seemed satisfied with the replacement chair....until he discovered the recliner wasn't gone, it was just in the bedroom! Now I'll usually hear him sometime during the night, he'll jump down from the bed and then I'll hear the creaking of the recliner letting me know he has jumped onto it. :) I don't know how long he stays there because next thing you know I wake up and he's back by my feet. Every-once-in-a-while I'll find him sleeping on it during the day, but not usually because we have blinds in the bedroom and they block the sun too much for his taste.

Hi Treybabe!
Yes, we had a similar experience last year when we got a new down comforter. Kedi did not like it at all! But, he was also very curious about it. He kept jumping on the bed and walking around very gingerly, then bolt away.
He had always slept on the bed with us (either on my pillow or at our feet). He did not sleep with us for at least 2-3 weeks, and I was seriously considering getting rid of it  ...........I just love my kitty's sleeping with me!
Well, eventually HE decided it was acceptable and started sleeping on the bed again. In fact, he seemed almost obsessed with it, and for awhile spent more time than usual on the bed. :)
