Have you ever been so relieved over something little that you felt lighter than air?

Tyler has to have a relatively minor surgery next month and it is going to be at another military base that is 3 or 4 hours away. We have to be there at 0615 in the morning so I called today to try to make a reservation for the night before in the lodge. I was so sure that it wouldn't be a problem that I was utterly speechless when they said they were fully booked. My mind started going over the possibilities but really the only other option would be to stay off base in a sea side hotel that would probably cost a small fortune (and would probably be booked anyway because it is a Japanese holiday).
I asked if there was anywhere else to stay and I must have sounded very pitiful because about 30 seconds later they put the manager on the phone. I explained our situation and this lady was so sweet and helpful and she somehow managed to "fit" me in. I don't know if she bumped someone else or what, but I was so happy that I wanted to hug her and cry and jump up and down all at the same time.

Now I don't have to worry about a place to stay, so I can go back to worrying about my little man having surgery :(

That's good that your hotel is taken care of, but I am so sad for you and for widdle Tyler. We'll be thinking of you both as he goes thru this. Hopefully it will go smoother than butter! :)

Awww, Missy, whata wonderful thing for the manager to do for you. I'm sure Tyler will be just fine, but its a mother's duty to worry about it. Please know he's in my prayers for a perfect recovery.

Missy,

I know when I daughter was in the hospital, they put a cot in the room for me and I stayed right next to her. Is there anyway they do that where you are??? I mean, afterall, he IS your child!!

I am soooo glad that you were able to get a room Missy!! Donna's suggestion about staying in Tyler's room is a good one - if he has to stay the night of the surgery. Since they have to see him the next morning anyway - will you be staying another night?

I know you are worried. Any mom who has had a child have surgery can relate!! It is very scary and yes, it is mom's duty to worry I think :)
((((HUGS))))

Fortunately and unfortunately it is an outpatient, one-day surgery. Tyler doesn't have to stay in the hospital overnight or I'm sure that they would let us stay in his room with him. At the point we'll be driving down there the night before, staying the day of the surgery and driving home the evening after the surgery. Hubby couldn't get the day after the surgery off, so Tyler and I will have to take the bus provided by OUR hospital down to THAT hospital again the next day for his post-op. I would try to stay the next night as well, but then I wouldn't have a ride home!
