I just had to salute one heck of a rock and roller, Leon Russell, on his 65th birthday!!!! I know many of the young folks(and maybe some of the older folks)have never heard of Leon, but he played a MEAN piano, and sometimes, guitar. He played with Joe Cocker in Mad Dogs and Englishman and in the Concert for Bangladesh. I saw him in Sept.'72 in Jersey City, NJ at the now demolished Roosevelt Stadium. Over 2 1/2 hours of FANTASTIC rock and roll. Over the years, Leon has been plagued by health problems. I saw him last August, and the years have taken thier toll. He may not be able to screech(I do not know another way to describe what he did), but he still gives a great concert!!! Here's to you, Leon, the toast of Tulsa!!!!
