....that is the question.
I think Slick had a great idea for a DOTD, so I just had to come open up the bar and try it out - a Peeptini! Unfortunately I couldn't find ingredients on the web site she posted, so....I think I'll start with Gin....and....Peeps! ;) :D

In order to see if they float on the bottom like raspberries, we are definately going to need a bigger glass Debbie  :D Oh, can you make mine with vodka? I really don't care for gin at all. GinI yes, gin no. :p

Don't have time to do a whole lot of research but this is what a Peeptini looks like. There are also blue and red Peeptinis. Don't have time to do an indepth search for the recipe.
Whatever it is, I'll take two please and will check in later. :)
Of course, there is always this:

Click on the gallery then click on the year....to see lots of peep pictures. :)
If you click on Tour, you can tour the Peep factory.
Not that you folks might have anything else productive to do... :D

Oh yes, I'm on the same time zone as you RH. You know, the weather here is so beautiful with nice warm sunshine, how about I roll out the BBQ and get it cleaned up. Maybe when DavidP gets back from his J-O-B we can convince him to do the cooking. After all, isn't it a man's job??? ;)
Oh Mario, you've been eating peeps again haven't you?? Let me get that sticky marshmallow stuff out of your hair.
Vodka Peeptini's anyone?? :D

Am I going nuts, or not?? In my opinion it is still Wednesday here. So in the USA it is even afternoon on Wednesday
Who cares, lol! I NEVER drink alcohol, so how about an alcohol free Peptini? With a bag of salty chips please :p

We have three different time zones in the U.S. - well 4 counting mountain time. Then of course there's daylight savings time which throws everybody a loop. Clocks go up, back and sideways - depending on local decisions. American Indians can pretty do what they want if they live on a reservation. So you see - it's clear as mud  :p

Where's the smilie that's rolling on the floor kicking his legs when you need it?! You have me in hysterics here, Redhedd!! :D :D You've been coming up with some pretty deep questions of late. I think we need a few peep-ka-bobs and peeptinis to contemplate all this..... :D :D

Lut, it's Wednesday aftrnoon, but it's already Thursday in Australia, so we figue we'd better open the bar.
Pah! Who says cookin' is a guy's job?
Umm, a Peep-ka-bob tastes just like a S'more, but without the chocolate and graham crackers. Pretty messy without the crackers, if ya ask me, and careful, don't burn yourself!
It is sunshiney and warm here today - the rest of you might not think of 59 degrees F as warm, but we do!

Hope everyone is having a peep-tastic day. Funny that you all mention peeps...I adopted a plush peep from the impulse holiday section of the grocery store not too long ago...he's blue :D. Ive attached a picture for reference...anyone have any name suggestions?

I'm with Laurie in that I really don't like gin a lot. I discovered when I was young that gin taste like pine needles and scotch tastes like cardboard. Soooo.....I think I'll have a slushie - neon green to match the peep floating at the bottom of it. ;) :D
David had Orc bring in some wood, so I've got a nice fire going. I'm just going to put my feet up, kick back and relax awhile if you all don't mind. :)

Would you just look at that - Slick DID open a Custard Stand in another thread. And she didn't even tell us about it.
Oh, I do so love old fashioned frozen custard. You can't get it on the west coast. I hope she brings some into the bar. Maybe if we ask her really nicely.

Well, my major screwup from yesterday has been fixed, I think! Thank goodness for backup tapes......Gini??? ;)
Oh and someone mentioned Networking?? I can do that. All you need is a PDC, some workstations with an ISP and hook them through a VPN....oh yes and you need Cat5 cables as well.
Any chance of getting a Spanish Coffee??? Off to work I go. See you all later.

Well I started the morning with water leaking through the ceiling in my living room. At least with the construction going on it was coming through the opened up ceiling and not destroying the plaster. Idiot men in the apartment above me, who have lived in this 100 year old building with steam heat for over 50 years, did NOT know that you're supposed to regularly drain the valves on the steam heat registers and the darned thing was leaking into MY apartment! Geez! Where's their sign?
I had to leave for work so left a dishpan under the leak. Now I just hope my goofy boy Mishi doesn't drink that water - UGH!
One Peep-tini for me, but hold the -tini :D

Slick, I think she was talking more about peer-to-peer networking where all need is a router and some cat5 - much more easily done in a bar than a VPN. ;)
It's happy hour here (12:53 pm) so I'm up for a slushie.
Right now it's about 68 degrees outside, and it's about 64 in the office! I had to go to lunch just to warm up. But my furnace problems are coming to an end - they're installing a new one as I speak! Wooo hoooo!!!! Hope they finish today.......matter of fact, I think I'll change my drink to something warm....hmmm....warm slushie doesn't sound too appealing....

The burning of the socks happens every year on the docks in Annapolis Maryland, down the road a piece from me. It's a spring sign of getting the boats ready and taking off the winter socks to go out on the Chesapeake Bay. Oyster season is about done on The Bay and softshell crabs are about ready, the good 'uns are starting to feed and get FAT and meaty!! Too early for the really good crabs but enough to get the juices flowing :D Crab cakes in July are a given, no worries mates ;)

Just a San Francisco take on April Fools Day, I assumed, but who knows, maybe there is an official reason! This is what the website has to say about the "pre-history". I think you should have another Diet Lime Coke before you wade through it.
"The church pre history as related by bishop joey, seminal and secular head of the FCLL, worlds fastest growing snack religion,150% less dogma (it's a lite religion) one holy day a year and april first is it.
And low, it came to pass that a table of four did sit and chat at new york city deli (now bagdad cafe) at the corner of 16th and market in the city of san francisco on a day in march 1979. And far and yon did their conversation wander thru subjects of art, life, politics and would a blintz be good to have with coffee about now. And so the wholy present four, Kate, Bob (no not that Bob. you're thinking of Connie and Bob),Ruthie and Ed did presently speak of matters of american society and a day hither to known as April Fools Day. The one known as Ed did remark on it that in comparison to older civilizations past and present, not much is made of this day in the USA ( this Ed having had too much education in matters less rewarding in a mammonish mode ).The medieval feast of fools in europe, the indian (dot, not feathers) holi day, the french poisson de avril, and others, all times of wild in the streets to let off the steam of existence ...all this and more did this Ed say unto said subject. And in our young land it is but a day to say "your sandals are untied" or "what's this apon your tie", yea, even the figure$ for hallmark cards purchased for 4/1 are meager. What's needed is that spirit of the holy fool, ,sun wu kong, anassazi, raven, coyote, groucho....in the face of the purveyors of the present day pressure pushers. And Low, it came to pass some more that this one of four called Ed did mutter the need for a parade thru the temples of our land, the civic symbols of the power that bind us to a slackless life. And low, the blintz did not sit well in his bowels and his brain did swirl in digestive confusion and regurgitate the combined intake of thought and conversation into the words..."SAINT STUPID'S DAY". The rest is history."

Oh look - Mario has lined all of the stinkey socks on the rafters again...........well better those than other things he has put up there.
Lady, quit barking at him - he comes back down eventually.
Good morning everyone - did you see the sprinkles out on the deck?
I think I will have some of Slick's Baileys in my coffee and a dollop of whipped cream.

Unlike most of the other nonfoolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. There really wasn't a "first April Fool's Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar. Some believe it sort of evolved simultaneously in several cultures at the same time, from celebrations involving the first day of spring.
The closest point in time that can be identified as the beginning of this tradition was in 1582, in France. Prior to that year, the new year was celebrated for eight days, beginning on March 25. The celebration culminated on April 1. With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to January 1.
However, communications being what they were in the days when news traveled by foot, many people did not receive the news for several years. Others, the more obstinate crowd, refused to accept the new calendar and continued to celebrate the new year on April 1. These backward folk were labeled as "fools" by the general populace. They were subject to some ridicule, and were often sent on "fools errands" or were made the butt of other practical jokes.
This harassment evolved, over time, into a tradition of prank-playing on the first day of April. The tradition eventually spread to England and Scotland in the eighteenth century. It was later introduced to the American colonies of both the English and French. April Fool's Day thus developed into an international fun fest, so to speak, with different nationalities specializing in their own brand of humor at the expense of their friends and families.
In Scotland, for example, April Fool's Day is actually celebrated for two days. The second day is devoted to pranks involving the posterior region of the body. It is called Taily Day. The origin of the "kick me" sign can be traced to this observance.
Mexico's counterpart of April Fool's Day is actually observed on December 28. Originally, the day was a sad remembrance of the slaughter of the innocent children by King Herod. It eventually evolved into a lighter commemoration involving pranks and trickery.
Pranks performed on April Fool's Day range from the simple, (such as saying, "Your shoe's untied!), to the elaborate. Setting a roommate's alarm clock back an hour is a common gag. Whatever the prank, the trickster usually ends it by yelling to his victim, "April Fool!"
Practical jokes are a common practice on April Fool's Day. Sometimes, elaborate practical jokes are played on friends or relatives that last the entire day. The news media even gets involved. For instance, a British short film once shown on April Fool's Day was a fairly detailed documentary about "spaghetti farmers" and how they harvest their crop from the spaghetti trees.
April Fool's Day is a "for-fun-only" observance. Nobody is expected to buy gifts or to take their "significant other" out to eat in a fancy restaurant. Nobody gets off work or school. It's simply a fun little holiday, but a holiday on which one must remain forever vigilant, for he may be the next April Fool!

A kitten! Oh goody, goody goody! It's been sooooo long since I've had actual contact with kittens. I don't dare allow myelf.....
Karen, I can see you're one of those type of people that carefully open your gifts so you don't wreck the wrapping paper, but would you puh-leeze hurry so we can see the kitten! I bet it's a gray one too. Can't imagine anyone even considering giving you any other color. ;)
Other Karen, it's not that the kitten is hypoallergenic in the cyber bar, it's that you don't have any allergies! No body has high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, allergies or any ailment. We're all as healthy as can be and can eat and drink - and pet - as we please! :D
Slick, I'll join you in a slushie or two. Almost done with work here. I have a horrendous headache, but it's tempered by the fact that I have HEAT!!! It's sooo nice and toasty in here now with my new furnace. Froze my butt for a day and a half, but it was all worth it. :D
Oh Karen, please hurry - do open the box. I will give you a hint.........it is ORANGE.
I just thought that Mario and Lady needed something to keep them in line.

And we all want something to cuddle. ( no worries - about allergies or even fighting)
