Ventriloquist & Nameless!!!
Surprise, surprise! I got my ratties one day earlier than expected!!! :D
I'm absolutely ectastic!!
Also, they're both double rex's, they're so nekkid! :D I love them dearly.
One draw-back... we haven't gotten their cage yet!! I feel like such a horrid rat owner... :( they're perfectly content in a ten gallon aquarium with a good, mesh lid over it(what we used for Marley) for now.
So the big question is: What is a good cage for a rat? I want it big, of course! :D Something under $120 is good. If you have any links to good cages, that would be great. We buy off of Ebay all the time, so there isn't a limitation there.
Also, what is the best approach to getting a rat used to you? They aren't aggressive toward me at all when I put my hand in their cage, but they sniff it, and if I attempt to pick them up, they dart away from my hand.

Anyway, thanks for any help! And on to the pictures!!:

First off, Ventriloquist... he name came to me automatically. Venny for short.. or just Ven.

And here is Mr. Nameless. :D He's a bit camera shy, but he'll probably come out of his shell soon. Just look at that cute little rat tongue!!!

And the last picture for now, Ventriloquist again.

After they get used to me, you'll probably see so much of them that you'll get tired of them!!! :D

EDIT// I heard Martin's is good... I looked at their site, and The Rat Tower (R-690) looks good, and its lower than the price I was originally going for. Do you other rat owner's think its a good cage?

My mum only let me get them if I promised to keep them out of her sight. She'll warm up to them eventually! :D
And right now, my room is pretty warm, so they aren't cold. But when my room does get cold, like during parts of winter, and sometimes in the summer, I'll get them a heater, like I had for Marley.

They're really soft! :D They don't trust me enough to pick them up, but they let me stroke their backs.

Aww! Would they maybe like a large bunny cage? I got mine off of bunnyrabbit.com . A few weeks ago there was a hairless rat at petsmart that I wanted SO bad! My mom was like NO MORE PETS! He got adopted though :)

Thanks, but we just picked out a cage! :D Its a good size, costs $78 in total, but I'm willing to spend that on any of my pets.
I'm not allowed to have any more pets, either. :o Well, I could probably get another betta, but nothing furry.

They are very cute, that's coming from me AND Tia!!!! Congratulations! Tia thinks Mr. Nameless looks very charming:)

They don't trust me enough to pick them up, but they let me stroke their backs.

They will in time, Tia was just like that. I left her to settle for 2 days, then began to stroke her and offer her food. About a week later I picked her up and put her in my lap. It's a great feeling when that happens!

Welcome to the PT family, Ventriloquist and Mr. Nameless!:D

Thanks, they're really a delight! :D They don't mind me stroking them too much, so I think we're off to a good start!
Mr. Nameless has a name now! Its Otto Kipper. Named after an elderly man at a nursing home my mum works at. He reminded me of an old man, so Otto it is!!
We've discovered a bump on Otto's neck, though. :( We're taking him to the vets either tomorrow or Friday. Tumors seem common in rats, so it has a good chance of being a Tumor. We'll do anything to help him.
Please keep him in your thoughts, if you don't mind.

I'm so jealous! I wanted those exact same kind about 2 years ago, but one of my tiels got sick and I realized I already had my hands full. With 4 dogs, 2 tiels, and my fish I'm too busy and broke most of the time!

Congrats!
