Happy First Birthday my sweet Teeks!
Tiki is one year old today (or at least that's what we estimated it to be).
Tiki's arrival:
One of my friends also helps rescue stray cats. As she was walking home from a friends house one day last spring she noticed a momma cat pacing in front of a porch to an abandoned apartment building, it was obvious she was a mother at the time. She returned later that day with some food and crates. While trying to catch the momma, there was no way to get to the babies without getting hurt, momma was very protective, an old lady comes out of her house next door. Come to find out she has been feeding them, the kittens have been there for over 2 months, the entire time being fed nothing but white bread and a few chicken scraps mixed in when she had some to spare. After a few days with the help of the neighbor & I and a havahart trap we finally got momma. It took us 2 additional days before everyone was caught.... except papa, it took him a couple months. 5 bouncing baby boys & momma were in safe hands. The kittens were kept at her house for a couple weeks while undergoing major earmite treatment and getting used to actually eating more of a meat based diet (that was a stinky process lol). The momma was spayed and adopted out as a house cat to the neighbor lady who has been feeding her, 2 boys went to a mutual friend of ours, 2 were staying with my friend who rescued them then there was Tiki, still homeless after being captured for 3 weeks (oh and papa had to be helped to the bridge, he had a URI infection that took over his entire body, we captured him too late, RIP sweet papa). You see I was there to help capture most of the kittens, I was not there to help capture Tiki, nor did I even see him until the day I brought him home. He was the most timid of the bunch and I only stopped by my friends house twice during those 3 weeks, I didn't want to disturb him but most of all I did not want to fall in love, I thought that I did not want another cat. Well I ran into my friend at the local dollar store one day, we haven't seen each other in a couple weeks so I went back to her house for a visit. Soon after we walked in the door & one of the kitties trotted by, so the discussion started, Tiki (no name) was still available. She goes to find him & brings him back to me, as she was walking by me with him he jumped out of her arms right into mine and the motor started instantly. She was shocked, he wouldn't even open up that much to her yet, let alone a complete stranger and the very first stranger that he went to willingly and with out a fight. Within seconds of him being in my arms I shouted out "Tiki", not sure why but I just knew that was his name, so unlike me to name anything like that, without any meaning or thought but it felt so right. Needless to say he was declared my new friend/fur kid within seconds.
On with the pics (which I JUST found while looking for some that about 20 pics from the first few days home are now gone, they were on imagestation & now they are gone :( one of them was my alltime fav pic of him).

The first time I ever spotted Meko & him sleeping next to each other, they hated each other, they still don't get along the greatest but at least they tollerate each other
