This is my pet Silkie chicken, her name is Puppy. She's definitely one of my favorite birds, and she's a little over three years old. And yes, she is as big as she's ever going to get! Yay to Mother Nature for creating such an adorable little animal :) She means the world to me, and her eggs are delicious, too! I call her Puppy because she reminds me of a poodle :) with her poofy feathers, and she follows me like a puppy, too!
I found her at a reptile convention being sold for snake food and I couldn't get her away from that owner quick enough! I own snakes, and yes, they have to eat, too, but as a responsible owner, I could never feed my snakes live food, let alone something as adorable as a sikie chicken! That's what frozen mice are for, and it is safer for the snake, too.
In the picture where she is lying on her back, you can see her head a bit more, but that is because she was molting, which chickens do a couple times a year.
I had to rescue that poor little Puppy chicken! And I'm so happy to have saved her, she is a treasure. She is friendly, cute, and she brings immeasurable amounts of joy to my world! :) I hope you all enjoy her as much as I do!
