This is Miep. It is an old Dutch name and pronounced "Meep." The reason she is special is she had bitten her former owners and injured her rattie family. They couldn't keep her because of this. She was at great risk of ending up as snake food, so I took her home.
I trained her to trust me and I took it step by step. She never has bitten me or anyone else since. She is the most trainable and social rat I have ever had. She loves to rough house with my hands and follows me everywhere when she is out of her cage.
She now has a rattie friend who she lives happily with after careful introductions. She is special to me because she dodged many bullets. She was not bad, she was just misunderstood. She is the loveliest rat I could ask for. I wish she'd live forever.
