We run the Kalahari Raptor Centre, a rehabilitation centre for birds of prey and small mammals, but some of the orphans stay some time and become very endearing.
Here is Bonnie, the Bat-eared Fox. She is one and a half years old, andhas the most loving nature. She walks with us every morning and eveningand just loves mealworms. Bonnie had a tragic start to life, She has grown from one day old after her mother was shot(for sport) and her and her siblings cut out of her stomach. I was only able to save her and her brother Clyde. Clyde has released himself back to the wild has a wife and two children this year. Bonnie, though, seems content to stay here, and has become a pet, and we are glad we were able to save her. We may be dedicated to birds of prey, but this little fox has won our hearts, and her place at the hearth. Please, if you are reading this, know that wild animals should always stay wild, it benefits their environment and all of us who inhabit this earth. Never take a baby animal from its mother to be a pet. You will both regret it in time.
We call her Bonnie the Beautiful and Delicate and love her very much.
