Sherman T. Potter was a long-awaited member of the family. Turtles and tortoises have been illegal to have as pets in Tennessee for many years and finally in June 2016 they became legal.
Tortoises are awesome, they have great personalities and I've always envied people that have them but with the turtle ban in Tennessee I didn't think we could ever have one. I was so happy when on June 24, 2016 they became legal. He has been our friend and pet since July that year.
He is a redfoot tortoise - you can see the red spots on his legs. Sherman does get a salad every day. We alternate fruit in every other day. Once a month he gets protein, chicken. It's all part of making sure he gets propernutrition, and we think it keeps thigs interesting for him, too. We love him.
