This is my first ferret Howl and he happened upon me quite by accident! I found him roaming around in my backyard, carefree as could be. After some investigation regarding his previous owner, I decided to keep him. I didn't know what I was getting myself into!
Howl is really lucky that I found him, since ferrets cannot survive for long in the wild. He's got a spunky attitude but knows when it's time to cuddle. You can hear him coming down the hall with his dooking noises, he's so excited! He is very dear to me and has been through a lot as of late. But he knows how much his mommy loves him, which is why he continues to rub his head against the cage for a scratch or two. He is a very important member of my family and we love him!
Howl is the type of ferret to express his mind. He has no reservations about letting you know when he needs a treat, or a snuggle, or when it's time to pay him more attention! His first order of business upon being released from his cage is to knock over the trash can in my room. The day will just not be complete without investigating the bathtub, either. He loves his stuffed rattle toy, and will hide it as many times as I can retrieve it from its hiding spot! He also loves to climb up onto the couch and roll around on his back, waiting for me to notice him. He's considered a senior now, and will reserve himself to laying calmly in my arms if I need a friend to cuddle. I recently adopted a playmate, but she's too small to play with him yet and I can tell he's still a bit jealous! But I think he will come around.
He will devour his kibble but loves his Dooker Delights and will wait as long as necessary until he receives one! A lot of time, love, and devotion are required for a pet like him, but it's worth it. As long as you can afford to uphold their physical as well as social health, ferrets are very enjoyable pets who will bond to you and be your friend for their whole life.
