I would like to honor my ferret, Raspberry Beret. I was volunteering at a ferret shelter six months ago when a woman called and said she had found a ferret in an alleyway in Chicago. She said it was skinny, dirty, had long nails, and had a lump on it's head. I told her to bring him to the shelter. The "lump" turned out to be a large tumor. He weighed just 1.5 pounds and looked really sad. I immediately sent a photo to the shelter President. I told her I wanted to adopt him and would pay for the surgery. The tumor was removed a few days later and was difficult to remove as it was attached to both skin and muscle. He made a quick recovery and came home with me.
He now weighs over three pounds. He had to have another surgery last week to remove a tumor on the tip of his tail. He is a very sweet guy. I think he is about two years old. He now lives with me in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
