Lucy lives at our pond with Ricky (of course) and another couple - Fred and Ethel. Lucy seemed to adopt us as their chosen humans, so perhaps we are her pets, rather than the other way around. She and her flock swim around and catch fish. In the early morning and the afternoon, they come to our porch, Lucy in the lead, to share birdseed with the cardinals, finches, and other songbirds. They often invite another pair and their offsprings (I call them Ward, June, Walley and the Beaver) over for dinner. Lucy will call to them, and they come waddling over.
This morning, Lucy tapped on the door with her beak to let us know the birdseed was low. What a smart lady she is! All these ducks continue to be wild but let us share in their antics as we watch them from the porch. We think they are special and hope they stay for a long time.
