Spazz is a very spoiled grey cockatiel. I got him five years ago at a pet store in New York where I used to live.(before I knew not to buy birds from petstores.) I had been looking through the bird room in the pet store when I first saw him, and was simply entranced by his whistling and crazy dancing in attempt to be noticed. I found myself asking Mom if I could take him home, but before she could answer, Spazz picked, at that exact moment, to bob his head up and down (nodding). Anyway, Mom said yes (much to my father`s disappointment - he`s afraid of birds.) But we had a problem. We were going out of town on a camping trip, and the store wouldn't hold him for us. I worried if we had a friend pet sit him, he would become attached to them, not me. So I decided to leave him there and come back when we got back, knowing that if God wanted me to have him he would still be there.
When we came back, he was still there! The pet store didn't want to give him up. He was their favorite bird because of the big attitude he had. I'd like to think he got his attitude from me, but its the other way around I believe. Thus, I began the first of my happy years of being owned by birds. (Only a fellow pet-owner can understand that statement.)
The story behind his name is that my mom started calling him 'you spazz you' because he would whistle and hop about whenever anyone left, trying to get them to stay. Well, the name stuck, so he has become my Spazzy.
