Say hello to our beautiful baby triplets - Nina, Scarlett and Daisy who were born in the first week of May. We adopted this adorable trio on June 29th from a local family who had too many pets and were looking for responsible guinea pig parents who could adopt all three of these baby sisters.
Our nickname for the girls is "DNS", which not only stands for their initials, but also for "Does Not Sleep!" These girls have non-stop energy throughout the day, as they love to play and chase each other in their cage, and also in their super-sized "playpen" that we set up for them on the living room floor. The girls' antics also amuse their next-door neighbor, Mason, and he loves to watch the girls in their cage.
Each baby girl has her own personality. Daisy is the big sister, and while she is a bit bossy, she is also protective of her two sisters. Daisy starts to whistle if one or both of her sisters are not with her in the cage or playpen. Daisy likes to contort herself into funny positions while sitting in their oatmeal tube, while drinking water from one of the bottles!
Nina is the middle sister, and she is always looking for a treat or to nibble on fingers or sleeves. Nina likes to stand the oatmeal tube on its end, in their pellet bowl, and her favorite napping spot is inside the tube.
Scarlett is the little sister, the "runt" of the litter. Her petite size enables her to leap over her two sisters, their bowl, or oatmeal tube with ease. Scarlett can stand up tall and straight like a meerkat, and she also likes to jump on and run up our arms like a tiny Ninja warrior! So we have to be extra vigilant in watching Scarlett when the girls are in their playpen.
In addition to their timothy hay, Oxbow Company's young guinea pig pellets, and Vitamin C tablets, the girls also love a variety of veggies and fruits - multi-colored bell peppers, carrots, romaine and bibb lettuces, spring mix greens, radicchio, cucumber, apple, cantaloupe, and red grapes. They also love their crunchy hay ring and parsley ring treats, original Cheerios, and dried oats.
Daisy, Nina and Scarlett provide us with many laughs every day, and it has been a lot of fun to watch these three spunky girls grow up!
