Minerva is my short haired teddy Bear Hamster. She is clever and busy and loves to run on her wheel and dig in her shaving and hide stuff.
What makes Minerva special is that she thinks she's unstoppable, as long as she has a barrier between her and my two cats. The cats will even sleep on top of her cage and she just ignores them. However, one time, I was holding her, barrier-free, and one of the kittens came near her - she completely bolted, right out of my hands, which was when I learned of her security blanket - that simple sheet of plastic.
Other cats might be a danger to her, so it is a good thing she is careful - just in case a strange cat every wanders in, I guess. I love her and want her to always be safe.
