Pickles was used as a breeder bird, but had no interest in breeding, so I gave him a loving home with alot of toys, attention, and love. My daughter and I have health issues and spending time with him is like therapy for us. He is just learning to talk and he can say his name. He is two years old, still a young bird.
We've had Pickles for only a couple months. He knows how to say his name and he says, "kisses," or "Pickles Kisses." He is a Quaker parrot. I run a chicken rescue, and I've been having health issues, so I decided to transition from outside birds to inside ones so they are easier to care for. I do have a "bird room" where I have a couple of special needs chickens, and Pickles likes to sit high on his cage top perch and watch over them. In fact, I tried to move Pickles into the living room, and he seemed to get depressed. So I moved him back by his chicken friends and he instantly perked right up! He also has a pair of parakeets next to him that he likes to chatter with. He is very affectionate with everyone in my family when we take him out of his cage. We love him very much!
