Cleopatra the Columbian Redtail Boa, the Pet of the Day
Name: Cleopatra
Age: Seven years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Columbian Redtail Boa
Home: Nashville, Tennessee, USA

This is Cleopatra, she is an eight-foot Columbian Redtail Boa. I have had her for about a year now but I believe she is at least seven years old. She is a big ole baby. Boas can be fairly nippy at times, but Cleo has never offered to bite me nor anyone she has had contact with.. She is a beautiful snake and I look forward to many more years with her.

She has a great disposition. I don't typically recommend that people interact with such large snakes, especially around children, but I have had and studied snakes since I was a child. I dreamed of being a herpatologist but ended up in law enforcement and dealing with snakes of the human kind.

She is very affectionate as far as snakes go, about the only time I will not play with her is before and after eating. I take her outside on occasion, the weather has to be warm, I am not sure about escape-proofing the yard. I suppose it could be done but it would be an expensive ordeal. I reccomend that you simply take the snake with you and if you are going to let it loose in the yard then you must keep you eyes on it at all times. No one wants an eight-foot boa eating the neighbor's dog or cat!

Cleopatra is a beauty, and I am very glad she is mine.
