Missy was a very shy and timid mouse when I met her at the pet store. They told me she was given to them by two siblings who purchased Missy but were not allowed to keep her. It seemed she had been in the pet store for a long time, as she was not used to humans. We got her for under $50 AUD (including the essentials), as pet shops in Australia are not really allowed to sell pet mice anymore due to people buying them for snake food! The owners of the shop were very pleased to finally find a human mother for the mouse!
When Missy and I first met, she gave me a small bite! I would have to hold food up to her for about 20 minutes before she finally slowly took it from my hand and quickly take it back to her hiding spot.
She was a very timid mouse, but it only took a week for her to finally trust me. To do that, I gave her lots of treats! Now she hops into my hand whenever she sees me and loves attention from humans!
I got her a sister a few days later, who I called Teddy. Teddy came from a mouse breeder and she is very very young! She is only half the size of Missy! While she was used to humans, it took her a while to get used to me, her new mother.
Both mice are very happy, snuggling and stealing each others treats! They love it when I put them in their little playground, so they can run around and hide in things!
