This is Timo. He is a Moroccan tortoise. His color is brown, and although his kind is from Morrocco, he was born here in Ludwigshafen. He has been with my family since he was six months old. He is an interesting pet to have, but right now, I kind of miss him. You see, in the summer he loves to walk around, and explore the garden, eating bugs and some plants, but in the winter he is sleeping all the time. In the wild there is not enough to eat this time of year, so they hibernate in winter, which is pretty smart. That way they can live a very long time!
At the moment he and his tortoise friends Luca, Sahara, Afrika, and Atlas are all sleeping in our refridgerator. Some time near the end of February they come out of hibernation and start to walk around. Timo loves to eat salad and some flowers, which is fun to watch. And he can go pretty fast when he wants to, unlike the fables would tell you! I like him, he is a good pet for me!
