Spot the Green Burmese Python, the Pet of the Day
Name: Spot
Age: One year old
Gender: Male
Kind: Green Burmese Python
Home: Oxford, Massachusetts, USA

Spot is a Green Burmese python. He's about a year old, and only about three feet long, but he will grow to be a 14- or 15-foot monster one day. He's very sweet, and lets me rub his chin. When we moved into our house, my wife accidentally left his bin open and he escaped. He was gone for about a week before one of my dogs found him inside a heating vent in the other side of the house! I was so happy to find him alive and well!

Spot is easy to care for right now, just needs the right heat and humidity. Once he gets bigger, it gets a little more challenging. They can live up to 25 years, so that is something to consider. We have many other snakes that stay somewhat small. I would say they are the easiest pets to care for, once the proper husbandry is established. The right habitat, temperature and food are all important. I love answering questions about Spot and my other snakes, especially from children. I've actually done quite a few educational shows at schools and different venues.
