This is my bird Martin, isn't he handsome? He's about fifteen years old, and is a Pacific Parrotlet. Most people know the green ones, his coloring is called the "blue mutation." He is a friendly little guy, and likes to rdie around on our shoulders whenever possible. And although he does live in the "Pacific" area now, British Columbia is far north of Peru and Ecuador, where his species originates.
Martin is full grown, they only ever get to be about five and a half inches long, so he will always be this cute handful of blue. You can tell he is a male because of his markings, the males have extra blue streaks on their wings and backs, even the green version have this, so it is easy to tell the males from the females. Martin is a little clown, don't let his handsome looks fool you. He enjoys making messes with his food from time to time, and keeps us laughing with all the funny things he does. He is just a great little bird, and we are glad he is our friend.
