This is Cloud. She's a purebreed Blue Orpington chicken and is about 8-9 months old. She hatched on February 5, 2017 along with her two sisters. Cloud lives in New Zealand in the country with 13 other chickens, but none are as special or as friendly as this sweety.
I at first thought Cloud was a rooster when she was a chick, and what was surprising about her, was that she was really friendly, she came up to you and let you pat her. I soon realised that she was a hen and was very happy and as she got older, she got even friendlier. Cloud did something cute lately: Sitting on the ground and patting this beautiful chicken, she decided to walk onto my lap and stand there, it was very cute.
What's funny about her is that when you say "Chick!" or "Cloud!" you can sometimes hear her making a clucking sound as she pecks the food, like a mother chicken does to her chicks. Cloud will follow you and you can give her food from your hand. She seems to have just started laying. as she has been caught out in the hen-house, waiting for a spot to lay.
Cloud was hatched and raised under her auntie who is very talkative (It's like that) and also quite friendly, her genetic mum is also a friendly one, beautiful yet Cloud looks nothing like her.
I love my little chicken, she is precious and I would never want to loose her, I try to be soft and careful with her, but you do sometimes have to scare her off the deck (I prefer to pick her up then put her back on the ground ten or so meters away).
